  • Has anyone here heard of PSSD

I’m not trying to scare anyone here, but was wondering if anyone had any knowledge, hopefully not experience, on the subject.

It stands for Post SSRI sexual dysfunction. There’s many reports of people suffering permanent sexual problems even after discontinuing meds. You can apparently land this condition after just taking a 1 pill. What worries me is it doesn’t even seem to be that rare. It’s just been swept under the rug. But people are starting to take notice since 2020 now that research and investigating on the subject is being done. I thought this was something that should be brought to our attention here since it’s safe to say we all care a lot about our dicks ha if you Google the condition you’ll find a lot of rent info on it.

I’ve suffered from depression on snd off since high school. Since then I’ve been hit with anxiety and obsessive thoughts on top of it. My mental problems have pretty much consumed me at this point and im getting desperate. This condition has been the main reason I have always avoided ssris. Im not a professional therapist but im pretty sure breaking your dick would likely increase your depression and anxiety haha

im currently on Wellbutrin which isn’t known to have that effect. Me and my gf can confirm this from earlier tonight ha But it’s making me go crazy with anxiety like I’ve never felt and serous obsessive thoughts, so im worried I might be forced to go the SSRI route of things don’t clear up next week. I’m on day 6 of the drug.

If anyone has any info on this subject I’d really appreciate it. Such as how ssris have effected you if you’re currently on them, or if you have been on them the past, how you have recovered.

I'm on 80mg of prozac, it's not ideal for sexual function but I've still grown on it for sure. I was actually growing on 120mg at one point. These are really high doses for reference. For the first couple weeks I had trouble getting erections but my body seemed to adjust. I actually have a pretty strong sex drive, sometimes I will j/o 3x a day. I would say there are more important factors for EQ. Make sure you are in great cardiovascular shape and have a high testosterone level. I plan on getting TRT soon myself.

I'm not sure if this is helpful since I'm a female but I take 60 mg of Duloxetine which is an SNRI and it's really helped with my anxiety and my personal sexual drive has been unaffected by it (I've been taking it for about 2 months). I struggled with obsessive medical anxiety thoughts. I hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure I have this.

Several years ago I took sertraline (up to 100 mg/day) for 6 months and it stopped me being able to orgasm. This went away but I noticed that much more effort was required to climax thereafter.

Not long after I was on 25-100 mg of quetiapine for around 18 months - same problem. Except when I came off I was no longer able to orgasm through sex - only intense masturbation. EQ was also significantly reduced and my penis has lost sensitivity.

The dysfunction appears to be permanent - although I've regained most of my EQ through PE/kegals.

There were other factors at play, such as the emotional trauma that has caused me to be on these medications (PTSD symptoms).

I wish I'd never taken these meds - no one ever told me about he side effects.
