I have bought a Australian/Korean gel pad that can activate itself to a nice temp so I first boil it briefly in water and I use it in warming up then I click on a metal clip inside the bag and heats up by itself the second time.
It is called Shin Bio

I can't imagine using a rice sock on my penis and then put it inside the microwave where we heat up our food.
The same will go to the gel pad; can't even think about putting it in a pot/pan to boil it.

You could put it in a zip-lock first. I for one like to keep my penis clean enough that a certain person I'm married to would have no qualms about putting it in her mouth.

I would love to find a dry/wet heating pad that is either 6x6 or 8x8. The one I have is about 12x12 which is little too big and I have to fold it a bit to get it to work on my. But, it works great and I am very happy to have it.
