Notebook computer check, toothbrush check, socks check, we could forget about the underwear altogether!
Here I sit, butterflies and stomach and nervous as a son of a gun. I never been on a plane before, and I've never been that distant from New York either. So it's going to be a first, actually a first for many things. I haven't been with a different woman for 17 years either.
I'm thinking to myself, 55 years old, never traveled that far and maybe I'm do for some happiness. Well I'm outweighing all the negatives and I say go for it! If it's meant to be that I'll get there in one piece, then I will. If not hopefully it will be quick and painless. Yes! I'm scared shitless!
The big day arrives, it's October in New York, I'm leaving the bad weather and heading to Tampa Florida! Woo hoo!
It's all new to me, the airport, checking in, walking around with a suitcase, seeing people scurrying everywhere, every last bit of it. I'm trying to fit in. I look around and try not to seem like the ass that I feel like! Everybody is so nice! I can really get used to this. There is a lot of waiting that goes on in an airport, it seems that no matter how early you get there, at one point you will be rushing for something. Well I did get there extra early, so it was hurry up and wait. All I could do was think of the final destination, finally going to meet AC! Gonna meet the woman of my dreams, going to see Florida my final destination. Just wow! A few times the thought of kisses and other intimate actions crept into my mind. For the most part it was getting there to be with my beautiful woman.
I sat quietly and waited for the boarding confirmation, and in the meantime I texted out the I love yous to everyone that mattered to me. I figured if something was going to happen I want to have all my bases covered. I know, it sounds silly, but at the time it didn't. I also texted AC several times, is excited as I was, I was a little surprised that she wasn't as excited, or seemingly excited, as I was. Well she was at work after all. Can't blame her for that one. Seems that when we're excited about something we want and expect everybody else to feel exactly the same way. I guess that's not gonna happen.
At this present time, right now, and I do mean right now, AC and I are broke up. It's ugly, was ugly, and is ugly! I won't get into the meat and potatoes of that right now, what do understand this: the expression of my feelings and emotion looking back, was much greater then I could ever explain it to be right now. That's just the way it is.
Now boarding rows, blah blah blah!
Holy cow, it's actually happening and there's no turning back at this point! I will be getting on this freaking plane whether I like it or not. I'm looking forward and not back. AC here I come. Florida here I come.
Will not knowing how much time I would have to squeeze out a last text or so, I began writing a couple of texts while walking on the ramp to the plane. Holy cow this ramp is flimsy, it's almost like the chickens walking to the slaughterhouse. Holy crap this can't be right! I swear to God this first plane look like a bread stick. It was a shuttle from Syracuse New York to Kennedy Airport. Well I'm glad I was working out at the time, even though I'm still overweight I was able to fit in one of these seats. What was about to happen was totally totally unexpected. I do not wish what had happened to me on anybody in this entire universe!
