For a few minutes after using my Bathmate, I have been able to do 20-40 jelqs.

I used to volunteer at a reproductive health clinic. We had some people try a pump and they and their wives/gfs weren't very happy with it. Besides the weird and off-putting mechanical process of getting pumped up, the problem is that it leaves the guy with a "floppy hinge" at the base of his cock.

The way it works is you start out by putting a kind of donut on your cock. like a big cockring, but in front of the scrotum, not behind it. The donut seals the open end of the cylinder and you pump the air out, pulling the blood in. Then you remove the cylinder, but leave the donut, which keeps the blood from flowing back out.

However, because you can't put your balls in the cylinder, all of this happening some distance (1-2cm) above the base of the shaft. And that first little half inch or so is NOT stiff, so you end up with a hard-on that's attached to your body with a soft floppy hinge.

I suppose it's better than nothing, but the urologist at our clinic said that few men who tried the pump stuck with it, so it's kind of a last resort.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the different pump styles and their intended use.

For those who are not suffering with severe ED and want to improve EQ, a good quality “sex shop type” penis pump with a vacuum gauge is the best way to go using the procedure outlined in the first post. However, for those suffering with severe ED and medical treatments are no longer working, a “medical grade” vacuum erection device (VED) is the way to go. A VED is the preferred device. A VED is designed to allow a tight constriction band to be slipped off the base of the cylinder (no lip) onto the base of the pumped erection. The tight tension band maintains the erection in order to have penetration. Unfortunately, the constriction band reduces sensitivity after about ten minutes and needs to be removed after about 20 minutes in order to avoid damage to your dick.

I have both types. The pump with vacuum gauge I use for enhancement and the VED is used to pleasure my wife. Granted, the VED is not conducive to enhancing the experience so I do it in the bathroom. If I want to pleasure my wife with my dick, I have no other choice. I use the Osbon tension band which, for me, does not result in a hinged effect
