Does Adderall effect your libido or erection?

I just got prescribed Adderall. I’m curious If anyone has had any positive or negative experiences while on it. I’ve read that some people get super high Libido on it while others it decreases their libido. The same can be said for erection quality.

Lastly there’s a wild rumor I think.. that it can shrink your penis, but that sounds way far fetched.

We have had a number of negative reports onsite .

Penis size varies more than people think, a prolonged and severe drop in libido could do it .

Initially, amphetamines may increase sex drive, but over time interest in sex may diminish. Impotence is also a potential side effect. Animal studies suggest that amphetamines can suppress testosterone production and may account for these complications.

Drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis don’t affect libido, so we’re not surprised they did not improve his desire. Unless he can find a different way to deal with his ADD, it may be difficult to solve this problem. An endocrinologist can test to see if his testosterone levels are low. If so, hormonal replacement may help.

It’s interesting it’s a vasoconstrictor, I’m also on losartan (vasodilator) for blood pressure so I’m wondering if I “did” have any side effects if it would cancel it out haha. What’s interesting too is like there’s a good majority of medical sites that don’t even list it as a side effect. Best I’ve seen is 2-4% of trials. Just boggles me when I see a tonic people saying it gives them a boost. I’m hoping I don’t get any time negative from it

Well if it improves focus it may boost but if it lowers test over time it is not about vasoconstriction.

Side effects of Adderall are all over the board. My advice, since the doc already decided Adderall is right for you, is not to fret and over-focus on the bad stuff on the Internet - just be you, go on with your life and give the medicine a chance to work. Not that you don't want to be an informed patient - just not worked up unnecessarily.

We find that some people "suffer" side effects that are apparently psychosomatic because they worry themselves into a physical or mental manifestation of some sort of side effect. If you later have troubling issues, bring them up with your doc. There is a reason Adderall continues to be a drug of choice in many situations - it works for alot of people.

Ya your right, pretty terrified. Definitely would be psychosomatic now if I was trying to have sex.

Would the bad side effects wear off once it was out of my system you think? Even if I did have any. Long term not sure how it would effect me either.

I take it daily. Not much, just a small dose. If I take a higher dose it becomes harder to get an erection and you will definitely not be at full size due to the vasoconstriction. I take it in the AM and it wouldn't have much of an impact on evening sex. Any large amount of any stimulant will do the same thing. In workout/bodybuilding forums, they coin it "stim dick" for a noticeable shrinkage effect from high stimulants, sometimes in pre-workouts, coffee, red-bull etc.

Agreed. Some docs would need to look this up to know the correct answer. Some of them wouldn't take the time to look it up and not answer and some unfortunately might "wing it" with an answer that may not be correct. I didn't answer it because I'd need to know alot more about the patient in order to give a proper response.

About the stim dick with pre-work out I can understand that.

Jumping in here. I take about 20mg of Adderall daily and it affects my flaccid size especially when I'm in a cold room. I've heard this is pretty common. Reduced circulation seems like a bad thing for PE, so if you experience this, you'll want to keep your dick heated more often and especially if you live somewhere cold. Personally I've noticed a decrease in sensitivity but not libido. When I have sex it can take longer to cum. It's possible that too much Adderall can mess with your libido. Please don't quote me on this but it's possible that Adderall influences the arousal process. So when you want to have sex, you may experience differences in how your body would normally respond.

CUSP is right, you should talk to your doctor. It might be awkward, but you'll get a medical opinion which is more trustworthy than asking a bunch of random dudes online.

Last point: Idk what your situation is but if 20mg seems like too much, tell your doctor. Do not take any more than what you're comfortable with. The only exception is if your doctor gives you a very compelling reason why you should take more medicine than you're comfortable taking. The goal is not to reach 40mg, it's to find the optimal dose where you feel that the medicine is helping you.
