  • Testosterone gel prescribed

Hello, I am 26 years old and afterhaving problems the recent years achieving and maintening an erection, as long as having a very bad mood and feeling fatigued, I tested for low testosterone. The result was 220 ng/L which is too low for my age. The doctor perscribed me tostran 2% for 30 days (3 presses each day).*
My main concern is wether this solutiom will be permanent, as in, after I finish the 1 month treatment, will my testosterone drop back to 220 or lower, or will it be maintained by my body at a high rate?

If it doesnt work for long term, what other solutions do you suggest? Anyone knows?

    Many thanks in advance

Well since you're under medical care I thinnk your doctor would be better off answering those questions than us. Don't you think?

TheT-gel solution will be permanent as long as you keep using the gel. If you stop using it, your T level will most likely fall back to and probably below your previous 220 level due to atrophy of the testicles because the increased T produced by the gel will signal your testes to produce less natural T. The longer you use the gel, the longer it will take your testes to get back up to speed (in your case, low speed).

Perhaps your doctor will be able to find a cause for your low T production such as a thyroid or adrenal problem (often a cause of low T) which will give you a more permanent natural solution to your low T.

I hope everything works out well for you.

I've been on T gel for 4 months. It improved my erections after being on for 6 weeks. Now I'm on day 11 off T gel. Libido is gone. EQ has decreased - not as bad as I feared though. Viagra works fine while off T. Have not chosen between viagra or T yet.

I have read several studies that TRT and lower doses of V work well together and generate better results than either alone. My own personal experience also bears this out.

Of course you can choose both. Didn't need V when T started to work after some weeks.

Btw have spoken to doc and uro. Both think I should start T therapy again. Have told them my worries about shrinking testicles and infertility. They say I should not worry about infertility due to low T supply (not like steroid users). However I should expect some shrinkage of testicles.

              Thanks for all the replies.

Low dosage of Tostran, such as 3 presses a day, should not diminish the endogenous T production, at least not permanently, right?
Anyway I am quite scared of starting the TRT yet, I need to run some tests. If anyone has more information about what happens after you stop a low dosage TRT, please say, I'll appreciate it a lot!

              Many thanks

AndroGel is a wonderful thing. If you have low Testosterone, it will make you feel 20 yeas old again. The fat around the middle will dissipate, muscle tone and energy will increase and your libido will greatly improve.
But alas, if you are on hormone replacement therapy, you will have to continue for life or you will just drop back into that dark hole.
My Dr. removed me from HRT because my red blood count got over 500. I was without Test for over 2 years and have struggled with the effects of low test during this period. I have since changed Dr's and she has started me on a low dosage, by injection in a two week cycle and will do blood work at the end of the next cycle. I felt the effects, the returning energy, the overall feeling of just feeling good again. My advice? Listen to your Dr. Low Testosterone is nothing to mess with. There are so many other things that can happen to your body if you don't have enough of this vital hormone.
As for your testicles shrinking? Mine never did and I was on HRT for over 5 years. (jP

Do you think the bodybuilders geting shrinkage is related to the dosage that they take JP. Perhaps medical levels have less testicle effect?

This could very be because of the high doses of steroids taken by bodybuilders.
My Testosterone AndroGel pump was 1% , I used 3 pumps so was getting 3% each day. Not really alot.

I'm still waiting for my specialist appointment for my low T-levels but would agree you should talk to your doctor about it. I've been cycling herbs and have been keeping very fit and sticking with core muscle building exercises such as squats, press, dips, etc. Easier said than done, but no one can help your health but yourself....

Is PCT required after finishing a course of AndroGel or other low-T remedies? For those of you unfamiliar with it, PCT (post-cycle therapy) is what smart bodybuilders do to counteract the detrimental effects of supplying their bodies with a foreign source of hormones, providing time and proper conditions for their bodies to return to normal levels of production. From the few guys I know who have used steroids, this is how testicular atrophy and gynecomastia are avoided. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's necessary for ED/Low-T patients also.

PE: If you build it, she will come.

I have been on AndroGel for almost two years. My doctor did tests, my T was really low, over weight, blood pressure was high, even on blood pressure medicine. I started out with 4 pumps, then 6 pumps & I have been on 8 pumps for a good while. T is back in the normal range, doctor told me to massage balls for at least 5 minutes every day, that would help raise T & help stop ball from getting smaller.
My balls hang lower & are larger than when I started androgel. I started working on Bowflex & treadmill, when I started gel treatment, lost 65 pounds, blood pressure normal, lost 10 inches around middle & got my sex life back.
I had to stop gel treatment for 2 months, so doctor could do some tests.Within 30 days off gel my T was getting low again, lost energy, no sex drive, blood pressure was creeping up. I have been back on gel for almost 2 months, energy back, sex drive back. So treatment does work, but get tested & do what the doctor tells you. I am 66 years old & I hope I can stay on gel treatment, because it does help.
I listened to my doctor, started working out, walk, use gel, do PE & feel good.
My advise to anyone who thinks his T is low, get tested, listen to your doctor, do the total program & you will feel better, look better & feel young at heart again. Good luck.

Did you have any loss of sensation in the head of the penis or did you notice increased sensation after you started treatment?

I have not experienced any difference in sensation after starting treatment. I experienced an increase in EQ and an increase in erection frequency. I'm currently off T but considering to go on again. I can still get hard but libido is gone. I know being on T will make me feel better. My worries about SE have decreased after reading other peoples experiences in this thread.
