  • 5 G's warning

I think you should be carefull when taking herbal supps. Last week I asked the doc if I could take Ginkgo, garlic and ginseng with the medication I'm on because the med I take thins the blood, she said I'm not to take them while on meds along with some other stuff that thins blood like aspirin and I think she said bromalain along with some other stuff that I can't remember and she said that even when I'm not on any meds I shouldn't take more than one supplement that thins blood anyway because it could lead to bleeding in the brain, stomach and reduces the threshold for seizures and some other shit. She said because no interactions are tested with herbal supps they are not said to be harmful whilst taking together. At the end of the day you choose what you are going to do just thought some of you might appreciate the info.

That shouldn't be a big deal for guys since it is ALWAYS recommended that a doctor be consulted before taking any sort of supplement - if you are taking any sort of medication. I know with the meds I am on there are certain things I can and can't take. Being responsible is a big part of PE.

They can't be that harmful to take together because lots of people take them together on here but I do think I have a good doc so the risks must be there.

Yes, the risks are there if you're on other medications or have a condition that would be negatively affected by taking certain things. Taking them together in a healthy person not on medications that would cause problems with the supplements is not hazardous at all. The same can be said for different medications, different types of foods, physical activities, drinks, etc.

Ooops I have been taking daily Cialis for 3 weeks and 4 of the 5 Gs for the last week! I don't know if cialis affects blood pressure or anything?
I will check with the doctor before continuing!

Cialis does affect blood pressure. Like Viagra, it was originally intended as a high blood pressure medication for those who have problems with blood flow to and from the lungs.

She says otherwise, just because it's herbal doesn't mean it's safe to mix with other herbal meds without negative side affects. She said it's a common misconception that mixng herbal supplements is safe just because it's herbal.

There is a big difference between herbal medicines and herbal supplements. The 5g's are herbal supplements, not medicines. If there was such an issue with supplements, there would also be a major issue with foods in which they're used. People eating salads and so on would be fucked.

So you think you can mix herbal supplements without any bad side affect or causing your body any harm??

Yes you can, unless someone is taking a handful of different things without looking at what they're taking. Multi-vitamins are nothing more than a mix of vitamins and herbs in one convenient pill, and there's no issues with those.

Well why don't you send me your complete medical history, a copy of your last physical, and all the medications you're on complete with length of time you've been on them and milligram strength and I'll tell you.

LOL I'll pass on that one. I'm not saying what she said is fact, because no/few tests have been done mixing herbal supps with medication or herbal supps with other herbal supps. I choose to believe her and be cautious with mixing supps and possible harm to the body but I don't blame any one for choosing to believe that they're safe.
