  • ED Following Weight Loss

Although only 25, I have no libido and significant difficulty getting or maintaining an erection. These problems started to develop gradually beginning two years ago. At that time Dad was having some heart problems and bought a home blood pressure monitor. On a lark, I tested myself and got a reading of 181/135. This result scared me and I started dieting and riding an exercise bike. I noticed the gradual decline as I lost weight, but attributed it to my advancing age- I was no longer a horny teenager afterall.

However as time went on and I lost more weight my libido and ability to get an erection kept getting worse. I finished my weight loss program last Fall 102.5 lbs lighter than I was when I started. Now I have almost no libido left whatsoever and my erections almost never reach their full size or stiffness. I ejaculate very prematurely. I'm trying to think of potential causes but I'm finding nothing. I've been like this for six months without improvement and am getting desperate I can't think of anything I haven't tried:

Check for diabetes: My blood sugar has never tested significantly above 100.

Exercise: I try to burn about 450 calories a day on an exercise bike. I also strength train.

Reduce stress: I'm about the least stressed I've ever been in my life.

Sleep more: Strangely it's only when very sleep deprived that I can get good erections and feel horny.

Supplementation: I take almost every supplement reputed to help with ED. So far only L-argenine, and maybe panax ginseng seem to help, and they barely do anything at all.

Prevent vitamin deficiency: I take vitamins with my supplements

Weight loss: 100 lbs down and can't get an erection.

I'm really at a loss. I've been to a doctor. She dismissed my concerns as just stress, but as mentioned before I've been feeling pretty good lately. I'm going to go back and see another doctor soon but I dont want to be dismissed as just stressed again. I really think there's an underlying condition here, but don't know what could be causing my problem.

Interestingly, I started getting heart palpitations around the same time as my erectile function began to decline. Also, consistently, the few occassions in recent times where I've felt like I had a libido and had little difficulty getting a solid erection were times when I was sleep deprived. Do you know of any potential health conditions that could cause ED, a lack of libido, heart palpitations and is less severe when sleep deprived or around 3 AM?

bump Danny. I hope someone can shed some light on this question too! I'm 31, I just cut 25 pounds of fat, and am healthy. But I believe I suffer some mental impotence with my new partner especially.

Heart palpitations, are you drinking a lot of caffeine drinks? - I get those sometimes, but more when I'm drinking a lot of caffeine...

I think the sleep deprived has something to do with higher dopamine at that time, like when people get morning erections. PLus your conscious mind is shut down - and going on auto pilot more... like your head is a distraction free zone.

I bet anything you are suffering from low testosterone...put good fatty acids in your diet like eggs with the yolk, lots of Zinc rich foods like pumpkin seeds, some grass fed beef and make sure your vitamin D3 levels are up...get out in the sun no sun screen for 15 to 30 min with as much skin exposed as possible when sun is directly over head until your skin is lightly turning pink...then go inside and don't wash off for at least a couple of hours.
      Started: 7 x 5
Current: 8 inches x 6.25 inches (whole shaft)
      Goal 8.5 x 6.5

Heard about this before and I'll make it simple for you, you have been sat on a bike seat for too long, its pressed against your pelvic muscles, they are in a chronic tensed state and pressing against your prostate, that is why you prematurely ejaculate, the muscles are also so tensed they are not allowing correct blood flow to your penis, get to a pelvic therapist, you can fix this. You will probaly get lots of replys on here from people talking shit about hormones and weight loss but like I said I have heard of this before, google it. I have pelvic tension aswell and suffer with the premature ejaculation and ED, I got it from stress, weakend pelvic muscles and sitting down for too long. I'm exactly the same with lack of sleep, I get better erections and am more horny because when your sleep deprived your muscles relax more.

Exercise & regular bicycles can cause serious ED problems due to the pressure they put on the pernial area, swim or find another suitable cardio exercise you can do.

Make sure you take a good high potency multi, vit c, D3/Calcium citrate & try a ZMA supplement a cheap basic one with Zinc, Magnesium & B6 nothing extra, take before bed ( I think this might help because you're probably magnesium deficient, especially the sleep deprivation part which relaxes your muscles)

If you have ED or a male related health issue, go to a male doctor, if it's sexual go to a younger sexually active male doctor, you can search any doctor and all their info comes up, he's more likely to take the issue seriously (unlike a woman doctor who'll never have a penis), be more well read about it & probably try harder due because he'll know this is not an issue to brush off.

As for the sleep, do you notice this when you get some sleep or stay overnight & you feel more relaxed, seem hornier, happier but if you're too sleep deprived (for long periods) it goes back to normal or worse ? List all stimulants & relaxants you take (even caffeine, chocolate, nicotine, second hand smoke, etc...)

When you lose 100lbs usually hormonal profiles improve dramatically, less insulin & more sensitivity, less estradiol, more testosterone, etc.. However fat also produces leptin, which controls some aspects of sex function & when you lose all those leptin factories, it can take a while for re-adjustment. Do you eat a low carb diet , a vegetarian diet, a high fat diet, low protein, excessive amounts of fruits/vegetables or grains ?

How is your strength training doing ? How's progress been for the last few months ? How do you feel in general also (muscle/joints/body/mood) fine ? Tired ? Hungry ? Rested ?

Get a hormone/blood panel done if it's feasible.

Also, are you circumcised ? I noticed a much better EQ & more frequent erections & I'm not done yet with restoration....circumcision can lead to low EQ & ED.
