  • ED issues 37 - Not sure what to do...

I have been reading a lot and stumbled on a few threads here and thought this might be a good place to ask for advice.

    Here is my story:

I am 37, married, two kids. Sex was always between ok and pretty good. Nothing crazy, but not bad, once to twice a month. My sex drive was always in high gear and hers was always in low gear but we made the best of it.

About 2-3 years ago I started getting some symptoms of ED. It was getting harder to get excited before sex and I started going limp during sex. I was 6' and about 250 lbs so I thought this was a weight or age issue. I also had stamina and fatigue issues during sex so I thought that might be related to my ED issues. I started exercising more and got my weight a little bit more under control. Sex would be ok one time then bad the next time.

Meanwhile over the years, I developed a bad porn habit and masturbation habit to help manage my sex drive. I started reading the threads on porn ED and that might play a role in what is going on with me as well.

So over the past six months or so, my ED has gotten really bad. One night my wife gave me a BJ for probably 15 minutes straight and pretty much nothing happened. Also the sensation was pretty much not there, though at times it felt kind of good, but nothing like it should feel like. BTW, this ED is starting to take a toll on her as well, because I think she is thinking, I am not interested in her anymore.

My wife is still fairly attractive to me and relatively slim for her age. She isn't 115 lbs anymore, but not 150 either.

So hoping this was mostly a weight related issue, I went crazy exercising. Since March, I lost 35 lbs. I am working out probably 5 - 8 hours most weeks and some days doing two or three workouts. I am running, weight lifting, crossfit, boot camp and bike riding. I run 2-3 times a week, lift weights 2-3 times, boot camp twice a week, crossfit twice a week and ride my bike to and from work most of the summer. Anyway, the point is, I am pretty sure I am somewhere between over-reaching and overtraining when it comes to exercise. Which most likely is adding to my ED issues not fixing them.

So I think for a variety of factors, I am struggling with low testosterone issues, probably have some porn issues as well going on. I don't get morning wood anymore, haven't for a while. I rarely get a daytime erection anymore and lately even seeing a hot chick in a skimpy outfit really isn't doing much for me.

I have an appointment setup with a doctor to do a consultation. I am hoping they will test for T and E levels and maybe make sure there is nothing else broken, gland or something else fucked up like that. I am also thinking about getting into an anti-aging clinic for a second opinion.

With all that being said, there is a lot of things that might help me out, I think, but I don't have a good plan how to get from where I am now to somewhere where I can have sex again.
    • I am seeing a doctor and if I have low T levels, probably will get some HRT therapy
    • I should cut back on my exercising as the intensity of it is probably fucking up my body chemistry and consuming all my Testosterone I have left, but I am making soo much progress exercising I don't want to give that up.
    • I had previously decided that I need to cut porn out of my life and masturbate a lot less. That is going well, I probably only look at porn once or twice a month now at the most, but I want to cut that out as well.
    • I have read and heard a few people recommend to try using a cock ring.
      • I had previously bought an OQ Ring. More about this below in a sub-topic

    • I would like to try natural supplements to regain my T levels and to help with my ED, but I don't know if natural supplements are realistic giving my age and my exercising habits. But I am willing to try anything. I am taking some Testosterone boosters right now, but they don't seem to be doing much.
      • I don't really know which supplements to try though. Will erection supplements help if I have no T? Probably not.
      • If porn ED is part of my issue, which I am sure it is, will supplements help as well?

    • I was also wondering if some PE exercises might help with my ED. My thinking is that if I have to maintain an erection to some extent to do the PE exercises, that might help train me again to maintain an erection. But I think that is just a pipe dream, not reality.

So I know I am taking some steps and I am putting a lot of stock in low T levels being the main problem with other things like porn ED and over exercising complicating the matter. But outside of waiting another 1-2 months for a doctor and blood tests, etc, what else can I do? Natural supplements seems like the only other thing I can try right now to pump some life back in me until I see the doctor.

Related to the last comment, I heard a few recommendations that said use a cock ring to help keep the blood in the penis to help you get and stay erect. But then I stumbled on a thread on here that said cock rings can cause permanent damage. For an experiment earlier today, I tried masturbating without visual stimulation and it was difficult to get and stay erect. I then put on the OQ ring (basically a metal cock ring) and I was able to get erect and stay erect. I know it is not a cure, but it is something I can do until I get to the underlying issue. Or will I cause even more problems if I start wearing the OQ ring during sex? Also I read that the cock rings that go around the scrotum are better for keeping blood in the penis, so should I go find one that fits like that instead?

I know there is a lot in here and a lot of tangents from this and I am sure a lot of this has been asked and answered before, so I plan to do a lot more reading, but if anyone wants to chime in on my story, I could use some encouragement and advice.

    No takers???

So after reading more and thinking more, the immediate stuff... No more porn, that is an easy (relatively speaking) fix but might take some time. Not sure if my T levels libido will come back on their own or if I am just getting too old. I am sure over exercising is still a major factor as well, but I have no interest in giving up my exercise routine at this point. I was already taking some supplements, Tribulus, to help my recovery from my workouts, so I doubt that will be a solution by itself, but it might help in my recovery.

Still researching if using a ring is a short term fix. Sounds like pills can also be a short term fix. Not sure if I will need HRT at some point, or if I just need some time to reboot and need some help while I am rebooting...

One other item to note I have taken Creatine off and on quite a bit over the years. Maybe that has done some permanent damage. I am not taking it right now and haven't taken it for about six months.

    Still reading a lot.
