  • Stress and ED

Right so I've had bad EQ/ED for many years. This last month I've been very stressed and it's been very bad, sometimes no hard on at all (0/10). Thinking maybe mild stress has always been the cause.

Any good info on how/why stress kills EQ? And things like how long it may take to recover from the stress etc.

    any input appreciated.

Stress will kill you about 6 times faster when compared to drinking and smoking. Knowing that do you think it will kill eq?

It lasts until you get rid of the stress or learn to deal with it.

So if you had 1 very stressful day in a month, it would only affect youforthat 1 day?
Eg Viagra and cialis had little effect on me, is that what you'd expect?
in what way does stress kill EQ? Is it by messing up hormones, blood flow in some way?

          thanks

stress caused me to just about lose the ability to get an erection a couple years ago and it lasted for months which only compounded the stress into a hellbound spirol, its horrible! I did go and get viagra and it worked amazing it was my first experience with the stuff and it really helped when I needed it. Lifted that additional stress off my shoulders. Also let me realize my initial EQ wasnt what it could be.

I am not a medic but i am guessing it affects cortisol, testosterone, adrenal fatigue, serotonin, dopamine. Your sympathetic nervous system active too much. Exercise and meditation are the best things. I have found to counter it. Plus trying to remove the cause wherever possible.

I'm going to think about some kind of regular relaxation/meditation is it cardio thats needed for stress? Very active at work but rarely get out of breath.
the basic cause is work/money but need to chat to someone find the real cause u know.

NC-yeah not a great feeling... On a plus side if this month of hell helps me realise a long term problem then Viagra did very little for my mild ed before. Maybe I should try now

                thanks boys

Debra Fulghum Bruce PhD, Healthcare, answered
The ongoing stress and anxiety from marital, financial or other external problems can psychologically affect your sexual performance. Because stress contributes to increased blood pressure and cholesterol, it is not surprising that it is associated with a greater risk of impotence.
For example, you may have had no problem performing sexually until you lose your job or have a pay cut from company downsizing. In this regard, it is possible for your high level of worry, anxiety, and stress to interfere with nerve impulses in your brain when you attempt sexual intercourse. The reason for this is that stress pumps you up causing an adrenaline release, which sets up a whole cascade of reactions including increased heart rate and blood pressure. Here is where the brain-penis connection gets messed up as the brain is getting all sorts of mixed or negative signals from the body.
Yet consider this: What man doesn’t have a “fear” of erectile dysfunction if this has happened before? It’s only normal to feel higher anxiety about your ability to perform if you have experienced erectile dysfunction. Yet just having “performance anxiety” is enough to actually cause the impotence to occur again--and again and again.

Dito this! Stress will lower your testosterone, which in turn lowers your adrenal hormones. Does a number on erections. I found a good mens doctor to help me. I'll tell you what I found out. If the hormones are out of balance, foget about it. I am 58, 5'11", and I weighed 225. Way overweight. Another thing that happens to older men with belly fat. There is an enzyme called aromatase. It is stored in belly fat. It job is to convert testosterone to estrogen, which is not good for men. Mine was high as heck. This kills erections, where Viagra doesn't even work. Since I was diagnosed with low testosterone and depleted adrenal hormones, I was put on Androgel to increase my testosterone, and then I was prescribed something called arimidex which lowers estrogen. It took a few weeks to get my estrogen down, but wow, when it got down to the sweet spot, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a ragin hardon. The doctor gave me pregnenolone and 20000 IU's of vitamin D for the adrenals. You can get this over the counter. I also started to watch what I eat, and have been going to the gym. I have lost almost 20 lbs, and feel so much better. My EQ is great. So get your hormones checked out!

Why are you stressed? Answer that question, and you can then take steps to correct the problem.

                        Thanks people.
i have 2 or 3 times been tested and had low T by my doctor, when sent to endocrine specialists they retest and say its fine... So I'm wondering if say1 stressful day every 2 weeks could cause low T for a day or 2, but then still kill hard ones for a longer period...

When end tested ayear or 2 ago cholesterol was the high end of normal but blood pressure very good.

cause- mainly work/money. But the only reason I think I struggle at work is low self confidence...

                        Thanks
