  • ED for 3 months, got bloodwork done - now what?

Hey all - could really use some help on this one!

I've been experiencing ED symptoms for 3 months now. Was fine one day, 3 weeks later, after a lot of beer, couldn't get it up, and haven't been able to ever since.

For context, I moved to the US for work one week after I had decent sex for the last time - that was 3 months ago. In my first month here, had bad nutrition and drank moderate amount of beer consistently. Now, I'm eating well, but I still have one or two beers almost every day.

Could the alcohol be the problem here?

So I went to the doc, and had my bloodwork done. Everything is clinically normal, but I'm not sure what that means. T levels, for example, are 573 ng/dl (total) and 161 pg/ml (free), which I understand to be on the low side for my age (28 years old).
What other numbers are relevant here? What should I be looking for in the results?

I haven't been back to the doctor yet (will in 2 weeks), and he got me on Cialis 5mg for the time being, which is working, but it's really depressing me that whenever I'm hanging out with my girlfriend, I have to pop a pill beforehand.

And I don't think it's psychological because even playing by myself is a challenge when not on Cialis.

Needless to say this is driving me crazy. Any help hugely appreciated!

Stress and malnutrition in addition to alcohol.

    Relax, eat healthy and exercise.

For as long as I have been here whenever someone said it wasn't in their head well 90% of the times it is. Barring any unknown medical condition 28 year old guys don't get ed, unless they're stressed, exhausted, and eating like crap. Okay so what do you think it is?

I guess it is better if it really is only in my head.

And I've had problems before by getting too anxious with someone, and then it wouldn't come up, and I thought I knew the feeling of that.

I just don't understand why I wouldn't be able to get any action by myself. And if it's only in my head, could it last this long?

Brain chemistry is extremely complex. The anticipation of not being able to get an erection is enough to prevent an erection even when masturbating. Morning wood and nocturnal erections are the best indicator to go by. Do you know if you are experiencing these? If you don't know, do some searching on nocturnal erections. There's a method of testing this that involves wrapping a small piece of delicate material around the penis and seeing if it is broken in the morning. That information my help you get this figured out.

          All the best!

So on Cialis I've been getting unbelievable morning wood. But off of it, I do get more limited morning wood, but it's still there - nocturnal erections I'd have to investigate, though.

Actually if you can record yourself while you sleep it's even more accurate!
Don't rely on cialis for an erection (damn do doctors give it like candys or what?). Take it as a little boost of confidence.
A beer a day won't do you no harm .
Moving in to the States seems extremely connected with your erection problems. New work, new people, new place, alcohol and bad food, and then a propensity to become anxious , trying to check if you're fine on your own, all of these things must have played some part in my humble opinion (just kidding I never had a humble opinion).

RELAX NOW! YOU BETTER RELAX? ARE YOU RELAXED YET?

              (end of the joke)

As Mrb8 suggested, exercising is a good idea, better blood flow and you can relieve some of the stress.

Cool - I'll let the Cialis wear off and then try this.

The doc actually said the same thing - he just wanted me to have a little boost and didn't anticipate writing another prescription for it later on. Besides, 30 5mg pills were free. So yay!

So everyone, and I guess the exam results too, seem to point to it being psychological. That's what the doc suggested as well, but I just assumed they always suggested that.

I've been exercising a lot - running my first marathon in January. Always wanted to try meditation - this might be the push to do so.
