I have heard that excess looking at porn causes ED. Why is that?? Doesn't looking at porn help a man get turned on and hard in the first place? Without porn or a girlfriend how is a man suppose to get an erection besides morning wood??

Why is porn bad?

Because it can create unrealistic expectations in contrast to real life - and it's easy to get hooked on the same 'fantasy' which then can lead to a compulsive derealization or 'tight window' which ultimately may lead to one not being aroused by normal, simple sexual acts...it also takes the emotions out of sex, and love becomes either intertwined or completely abolished from the existence... thus it's a psychological self-defeat for many guys...Originally posted by RoundTable View PostI have heard that excess looking at porn causes ED. This usually happens over months or years of using porn and those easily stressed are more susceptible as are prior amphetamine users or those whose neurons are degraded...though behavioral stuff plays a role, as well.

Not much I can add to the above, agree as well, porn basically desensitizes you so when you are in front of a real woman you will not be as aroused as you should be because you will be expecting "porn" reality, which does not exist.Guess I need to start keeping track.

Yup porn messed me up. But I'm reversing the effects by getting my mind right about it. If you're not already addicted stay away.BPEL: 5.25,5.5,5.75,6.0,6.25,6.5,6.75,7.0,7.25,7.5,7.75,8.0"+

I've never had an issue because of porn and I've been looking at it for around 13 years, but for others they dive so far into them that they forget a lot of common sense and reason and believe what is in porn resembles actual sex in any way. I've been messed up more from erotica, something plenty here say is acceptable. Just depends on the person and how they react to long term use of porn.

Yeas, a more concise way of saying it would be "Porn may impair sexual diversity and sexual logic".Originally posted by Dontrike View PostI've never had an issue because of porn and I've been looking at it for around 13 years, but for others they dive so far into them that they forget a lot of common sense and reason and believe what is in porn resembles actual sex in any way. Didn't you say your lack of having sex was directly correlated to watching porn?Originally posted by Dontrike View PostI've never had an issue because of porn and I've been looking at it for around 13 years

I don't believe that I have said that. If porn is a reason for me it would have to be close to the bottom of the list, there are a good eight other reasons for my lack of sex long before porn is an issue.Originally posted by TeddyBear View PostDidn't you say your lack of having sex was directly correlated to watching porn?

Well, you pretty much answered the question yourself. True, you need stimulation like porn or a girlfriend. But porn is not the same as a real woman. So watching porn once in a while is not going to hurt you. But if you get used to watch porn for stimulation and masturbate watching porn, eventually your brain re-wire to sense porn as all it needs for pleasure. Your body physically gets adapted to your hand for timing and touch. So after a while you get a naked girl in front of you, you're not gonna get hard because she doesn't look like a pornstar and you don't get aroused by looking at her from your point of view. Once you penetrate her it doesn't feel like your hand and you have her right in front of you instead of watching the whole penetration in front of your eyes. Eventually you will not get an erection with a real woman anymore and you won't even be able to finish jerking off in front of her.Originally posted by RoundTable View PostI have heard that excess looking at porn causes ED. Because, once you meet a real girl, you'll have unrealistic expectations. Online on a porn site like theporndude you can find new 'material' with the click of a mouse button. Your body will get addicted to that and you'll get ED problems in a real relationship.Last edited by Dave1989; 10-22-2015, 04:20 PM.

RoundTable,
Those are really good questions.
First, porn in moderation isn't bad. However, remember, porn is a stimulant, and like any stimulant, it can become an addiction. Additionally, for those who have trouble separating fantasy from reality (because porn is fiction), unrealistic sexual expectations can also be formed.
Obviously, you shouldn't need porn to become aroused. If you have trouble getting an erection without porn, this is a serious sign of likely addiction.
We have several articles about pornography's effects and pornography addiction. Please read them and then let me know what other questions you have.
