  • Can only get an erection at very specific times

I'm a 26-year-old male. I have a sexual fetish called somnophilia, which is an attraction to a partner who is asleep or unconscious (I NEVER ENGAGE IN ANY SEXUAL ACTS LIKE THIS WITHOUT PRIOR CONSENT).

Anyway, I can only get an erection if my partner is asleep (or when I think about it). Normal, physical stimulation (hands/mouth) does nothing, and when I can get an erection and want to take it to intercourse, I can't stay erect unless the other party is asleep the entire time.

An easy solution would appear to be having a partner pretend to be asleep. I've tried it. It doesn't work, because I know they're pretending. It has to be real.

This is a major hurdle in every relationship I have, and it's ruined at least one. What, if anything, can I do?

See a sex therapist; not sure anyone will be qualified to give you the right advice here.

See your doc to get referred to a psychiatrist...CBT or maybe hypnosis. Good luck mate.

Blindfold yourself so you don't see the other person until you get over this complete obsession.

Either find a girl who is understanding and O.K with it - or maybe even one who has a similar fetish...I'm sure there's plenty of girls who would want you to get in their pants when they are sleeping...trust me - get a submissive one who plays BSDM.

          OR...

Find a therapist who can help walk you through this issue..which sounds very pathological in nature but there have been studies in those with monophilias'/monomania; that suggest in disorders like necrophilia or somnophilia that it is possible that there is a biochemical imbalance in the limbic system...in somnophilia and HYPEROSMIA (heightened sense of smell) - it's also possible that the subject is having too little alpha-waves in their brain or abnormalties in gamma-waves which causes pheromonal supersensitivity or poor reactions to perceived stress or social stress.

In which case you have to figure out if your 'somnophilia' is because of your obsession or because of your anxiety around girls or people in general..could be both - but both can play a role and the latter can reinforce the former.

When I say that it's a hurdle, I mean the erection thing. I don't think the fetish is the problem.

              They never do...
We'll say the same for everyone. Join the AP90, see a therapist, try to get rid of the fetish, do your kegels.

Even if this turns out to be a permanent issue you shouldn't worry, there are lots of treatments. That's why a lot of us are here! Bathmate penis pump is my favorite use and you can get it for pretty good price at www.diabetespenispump.com

And people wonder why me and many other members who have been here for a while - are totally skeptical of new members...posting in random threads; because 68% of the time - this is how they turn out..it's downright pathetic!

Well, ignoring the fetish, what do you guys think is going on? I take anti-depressants and sleep aids, but other than that, no foreign substances or anything.

I remember right before I went to my doctor about my depression (thus wasn't taking anything other than sleep aids), I had a girlfriend, and I distinctly remember never having a problem with this. I still had and engaged in my fetish at that time, too. That's why I thought maybe we should ignore it.

                          Thanks.
