Pretty soon you will only be able to get an erection by watching porn. Then someday you wont be able to get an erection at all. Porn over saturates the dopamine system of the mind.

Kingpole is right. Porn induced ED do exist. I don't know about the private life of those who deny it, but if you get used to watch porn and get stimulated by it, wait til you have a good looking average female on top of you. It won't go up, no matter who you pray to. Because your mind will be used to stimulate in a different way, not to mention that your penis is married with your hand, and it will stay loyal to your hand forever. Won't feel crap inside a wet pussy.

Well porn certainly seems to be an issue for some people, I like BW's post about regulating it.

Does porn create a dependancy on visual stimulation? I am imaging a situation where getting an erection is a problem when the lights are out but maybe not when the lights are on.

I got your point. I am wondering about a more subtle manifestation of ED.

I think porn can have subtle effects in both men and women because the power of something to be stimulating depends a lot on how novel it is. Seeing something over and over again makes it less special, less arousing. I have not watched much porn, but while exploring porn recently I noticed that scenes that instantly made me hot early on stopped having that effect after a pretty short time. The first few times I watched any porn it literally took my breath away; then it became less exciting. So I looked around for new and different types of scenes, found some, and those seemed very hot. But then those paled. Is it the same for guys, do you find yourselves wanting/needing new and different and more outrageous porn as time passes, just to get the same effect? That's desensitization. I think it is probably a problem for anyone who watches much porn. If porn can desensitize you to porn, surely it can desensitize you to real women, too.

For me -- and maybe this is something female, I don't know -- written erotic stories seem to have an ability to arouse me that does not become tempered with time. I love reading hot sex scenes and I have never noticed any diminution in their ability to arouse me. Maybe because I am creating the images in my head rather then seeing them, and building in the emotional impact as well as the physical, they are new every time and do not seem to desensitize me either to other stories or to real sex.

Porn is poop. I have used it 12398721938741092834 times to jack off. Having sex or even thinking about it works far better. Like I have said, I only use it to measure and keep up a boner when the ruler comes out.
                    Starting Size (09/2009): ~7"BPEL x ~5" MSEG
                    Most Recent Measurement (08/13/2012): 8"BPEL x 5.5"MSEG
Final Goal: When I'm told to stop.

I don't know but I know my erections have improved drastically since I stopped relying on porn.

I suspect that the desensitization happens faster, on average, in women than in men since we have more visual-sexual hardwiring (I think.) This may be yet another reason why men are more into porn than women.
I, too, find that the written word is more effective in the long run than video porn. Perhaps that is because you must engage your mind to make it work (whereas video porn seems to work best with your mind disengaged.)
Does any of that make any sense?

                          You are 100% correct.
It has the exact same effect on guys.
I remember when just looking at a picture would meke me very hot and horny, then i started watching videos and it was amazing, then they slowy did not have the same effect on me and i kept having to find more and more hardcore scenes.

And I also just recently started reading sex stories insted of videos and whatnot, and I find them just as stimulating because I have to think about what is happining.

I think it's definitely true that women are not nearly as keyed in to visual stimulation as men are. I think it has something to do with the fact that women don't get the views that men do during sex. I feel cheated! You guys get to watch so much during sex -- seeing your cock disappear inside your lover must be remarkable. I have found it fun on occasion to use a hand mirror so I could watch too -- quite a big turn on, I must say.

But back to porn: I find it interesting that many of you guys have noticed that visual porn looses it's punch pretty quickly (maybe because it does not involve much or any thinking on your part) while written sex stories don't. It makes sense to me that this is because it requires that you engage your imagination.
