So a couple of years ago I had a testicular torsion from using an extender and had to get an ultrasound, the torsion fixed itself but the ultrasound found some cysts and a left sided varicocele. I am desperate to get back in the gym but almost all research I've come across on the subject suggests any form of weightlifting or cardio will only worsen the condition which can lead to lowered T levels and fertility issues. I only have pain when I smoke weed (probably because it's a vasodilator and expands the veins increasing blood flow) but if I'm going to get back to regular exercise I want to find out if anyone else suffers from a varicocele and get their input. I should mention that when I train it is vigorous I.e. power lifting routines including clean and press, deadlifts, squats, bench press and bent over rows (all heavy), as well as running. I hope someone has experience with this and can offer some practical advice.

Weed is not your average vasodilator. It's actually estrogenic, and estrogen is notorious for causing varicose veins in studies. I have a varicocele too and I remember before discovering it, when I smoked weed I had this awful pain in my testicles.
So weed can actually cause varicocele and varicose veins due to it being estrogenic.

So did you stop smoking weed? How are you managing with your varicocele and do you weight lift???Originally posted by Nikitis View PostWeed is not your average vasodilator.
