  • No New Year Resolution, do the work right now! Fat Loss Success!

Hey guys, I wanted to share my recent story with getting healthier. I'm a young athletic guy, this year I had a series of surgeries related to sports that lead to me being really sedentary and letting myself go. I was partying day and night, eating dogshit, and getting poor quality of sleep. I gained a significant amount of fat and ended up at a really high body fat percentage almost 25%! I started dieting around late September and was cleared to run and do cardiovascular workouts. It's been around 12 weeks now and I'm down 35 lbs! I did a low carb diet to accelerate the process, because counting macronutrients and calories was something I didn't have the luxury of time to do. I did sacrifice alot and early on in the diet/exercise I really wanted to give up and go back to my unhealthy ways, but I stuck through. All I have to say to any of you guys is don't wait for New Years, don't wait for monday. Don't wait for tomorrow because you want to enjoy those donuts today. Start eating healthy, start working out right now and you will feel much better! I'm going to get another test of my body fat percentage in a few more weeks to see where I'm at now.

Thanks for the motivation. I have always had the "skinny fat" kind of body type. I am probably about 28 percent or so body fat currently. I really need to get back to it. I ran 5 mile a few days ago but that's about it so far lol. I also kind of struggle with body dysmorphia.....I've never been happy with my image as I have never really been skinny.

As far as workouts go, do you do cardio some days and weight training on other days? What have you been doing to lose the weight? I also will probably start counting macronutrients. I used to do CrossFit and I gained a good amount of muscle but didn't really lose much fat. I think it's because I needed to add some more Cardio on top of what I was doing at CrossFit. I was also dieting at the time. I could have been better at it but I definitely was eating more healthy than I normally do.

So what happened was I messed up my upper body last year and had to have two major surgeries to fix some dislocations that caused tears. I just became lazy and didn't do any exercise and let myself go. When I started my diet I went low carb or ****genic I don't know why that word gets censored on here. I lost a good 10 lbs and then decided I'll start running. I ran 5x a week and was at the point of puking and passing out every run in the beginning until I got a little more in shape. Then I had a knee surgery last month which stopped me from running again but I stayed consistent on my diet and even lost another 12 pounds since then! It's really 70%+ about the diet. I started the stationary bike last week and doing some ab workouts. If I was able to lift weights and do cardio without any limitations I probably would have been able to do this transformation in half the time. So, my advice to you is find your maintenance calories cut 2-300 off of it and stay on that for a few weeks while consistently working out/doing cardio. You'll make insane progress! The same way it is with PE, consistency is key my friend.

Outstanding attitude my friend! I've had a knee surgery myself and my advice to you is to take it super slow. It's good that you've learned the body starts being made in the kitchen. Most people never grasp that or cannot discipline themselves enough to stick to it. Congrats on the new found strength! Go on with your bad self!

Use me as a resource if you want, I'll do my best to help you out with programming/dieting if it helps. You seem to be a really consistent and determined individual based on your PE log so I'm sure you won't have any problem getting to your goal. Like I said, DM me if there's anything I can do to help!

If you're specifically talking about the diet he is on (or at least I think he is on), make sure you do your research. My wife has been on it specifically for a long time and she even has a blog about it to help others. The transition from one energy source to another can be intense for many causing certain side effects, and even worse bouncing back (cheating or coming off).

I'll be the first to admit that I did experience a carb withdrawal flu the first week of the diet. I had mood swings, energy level dropped, libido dropped, no EQ practically 0. I was really concerned about this diet not being the right thing to do, I realized I was just trying to find a way out using excuses. After two weeks, my body adjusted and I had none of those issues felt decent. Only lingering side effect it will give you is really bad breath in the mornings.

Yeah I'll be going shopping here in a bit but I'll be sure to just stick with mostly veggies. I'll grab some deli meat and stuff for salads. Lots of chicken. No more bread or cereal lol.

Try and reduce your eating window to 4 to 6 hours and fast the remaining time. Youll see good results.

                              What did you mostly eat?

Intermittent Fasting. I can try this out . One time I tried to do it while not really exercising and then pretty much decided that was pointless since I really wasn't doing anything physically active at the time. Thanks Tara!

Ran 5 miles this morning. Going shopping later.
