For the past five years or so i've been experiencing a gradual decline in sex drive, energy, memory and overall health. I never really thought anything of it until recently when my girlfriend noticed that i'm never in the mood to have sex. I eat very healthy, do moderate exercising, and lead a pretty active life. I smoke MAYBE once a day and I am a bit stressed. With the information I read online and my experience in nursing I realized my testosterone levels are probably low. Last Friday morning I had my blood drawn to test my testosterone and I was at 292 ng/Dl total testosterone. I met with my physician and he says this is in normal range so it must be something else that is causing these problems. I told her for my age, 28, the average testosterone level is 550-650. She told me since I am concerned I should see an endocrinologist. I fear that when I do see the specialist they will give me the same response. My question is... Does anyone with experience in this area have any suggestions to what I could say/do to resolve this issue?

'range' is so bad to base an opinion off in my opinion. You can't have a good normal range be so far apart because apparently 'normal' is from 240-1200ng/dl. Mine was 557ng/dl when I had it checked (I was 18, 19 now) and I thought that was low even though I don't have any testosterone related problems.Current Stats

I would consider 292 borderline. I go to an endocrinologist on a regular basis because I am a diabetic. My total T regularly shows up in the sub 300 range. The endo advised that even at 280, I am still in the "normal" range for my age (late 60's). I have severe ED, but it is primarily a result of over 18 years of diabetes and also my age is a contributing factor.
However, I was not satisfied with the "normal range" explanation so I made an appointment with a urologist. His response was similar to the endo's, but he was willing to prescribe a 1% T gel to rub on daily. It increased my T level to 800, but didn't do much for my ED. However, it definitely increased my libido. Now I had an increased urge with a limp dick and no where to go. We were subsequently able to solve that problem with a trimix injection. My wife is now starting to get a little irritable with my reborn teen age dick. LOL
Point is, you may want to go to a eurologist instead of an endocrinologist. My endo seems to be a bit turned off whenever I try to change the subject to my ED problem. However, make sure the euro actively treats male sexual dysfunction. I found that some are only interested in urinary and prostate problems and consider ED as a secondary problem.
Also be aware that prolonged testosterone replacement therapy can induce your prostate to produce even less T naturally as it recognizes the artificially increased T in your system. You need to discuss this issue with the uro as prolonged TRT could exacerbate your low T problem and force you to rely on TRT for the rest of your life or at least take a year or more to recover to you former lower T level.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

Ok el so your test might be ok for a 60 year old but not for you. The question is why? I have heard low zinc levels can cause this, a test for zinc level is cheap. Or for that matter you could just eat a wole lot of oysters and see if it helps.

It is a good idea because there may be other glands involved at play. Anyway what I think in your case it is stress you clearly stated so.Originally posted by elpresidente View PostEndocrinologist specialize in hormones and the endocrine system. I take 50 mg daily and although it doesn't seem to make a difference, it's cheap and any little bit helps.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

It could be that you are just stressed and the nature of your problem is psychological. You mentioned that you are stressed. I notice the same happens too. If you are worrying about something such as a huge workload or lack of money, you could be stressing without realizing. Stress causes performance anxiety. It has happened to me before.
It could be too that your exercises are more aerobic that muscle-building. You should do some strength-based exercises. My Progress Log: https://www.pegym.com/forums/progres...gress-log.html
