Speaking of Lyle McDonald who seems to be a favorite here...his work started where Dan Duchaine left off: Underground BodyOpus. Which, by the way originated as the "Ultimate Diet" by Duchaine and Michael Zumpano in 1983.

I'd just like to make an update. I've been doing the workout I posted when I started this thread, and I'm getting results already! My six pack should be fully developed in about 4 months at this rate.

Hopefully my unit will be more developed by then too .

      Just some words of inspiration!

I've tried the Bodyopus Diet. It requires quite a bit of discipline- especially 48 hours prior to the carb up phase. For those 48 hours you're going to feel (and smell) like crap as you get into ketosis. It's not something I recommend to someone just wanting to get lean for the beach (or without a thorough check up), but it definitely works after you've fine tuned it. For dropping BF for cosmetic purposes, I've always favored something closer to Duchaine's Isocaloric Diet with low GI carbs.

For some guys like me low starchy carb is the onnly way to go. Some guys seem to injest starchy carbs all day and have a six pack. But when i start eating more than 75 grams of starchy carbs per day my shadow six pack starts to disapear. So when will i learn my lesson. Got to stop these upswings and downswings. When i am taking Chromium picolinate regularly at 800mcg per day i want to vomint at the site of starchy carbs. I lose my appatite for them. But when i cycle off of chromium picolinate or forget to take it here comes the starchy carbs and there goes the shadow six pack. And the love handles get bigger and bigger!!!!!

I start to retain water ick!

Not directed at anyone. Coincidental that it was right after your post. Straw that broke the cammel's back?

I'm with SJ on this one. The fitness industry is a giant, nebulous field with very little strong scientific evidence of anything. It comes down to experience. One of my biggest peeves of all time is referring to what worked for someone else. The issue with this statement is that you are not that person, and I doubt that person has any proof that it was that particular supplement, or that particular exercise, etc. that made them what they are today. The only way to find out what really works is to try billions of different combinations of things on yourself until you find something that gives you good results. Could take years.

I don't believe in low-carb diets. I don't believe there are any "useless" macronutrients. I don't believe in (most) supplements. I don't believe in front squats.

When I train someone, I explain clearly the known and unknown. If something is not known for certain, or is not regarded and generally accepted information by many fitness industry scientists, then I do not act like it is, and I absolutely hate it when others do. Just cuz a well-known fitness philosopher said it doesn't make it true.

i would say just limit your intake of all the junk food, drink plenty of water, and have some moderate exercise activities for you to do throughout the week. keep it simple and sweet but dont over do it. im actually planning on getting a six pack somewhere down the road as well.
                  Starting Stats (March 01, 2009): 5.50" NBPEL x 5.00'' EG
                  Current Stats (Jan 31, 2010): 5.80'' NBPEL x 5.00'' EG

Short Term Goal: 5.75" NBPEL x 5.00" EG (Reached)
Long Term Goal: 6.00" NBPEL x 5.25" EG

Lazy 8 that sounds like a reasonable goal. Christmas is the date I want my penis goals, and surprisingly is the date I should have a six pack.

I started using soy protein and eating a lot of vegetables throughout the day. I really reccommend this! I feel full, I mean to the point where I'm going to explode, after eating just a cup of vegetables.

This is a sure fire way to trick your brain into thinking its full and your stomach!. I'm getting great results, so feel free to try the veggie diet. PM me if you want more details.

Maybe your allergic to the soy and that is why your bloating up. Well anyway my problem is im diabetic starches raise my blood sugar so i avoid them that leaves Vegetables, fruit and meat andsome dairy. When i do this i don't bloat up.
Seems that a lot of Americans are allergic to gluten and this can be a hindering factot to losing weight and getting a six pack.

I know I'm lactose intolerant, hence the soy protein with soy milk, but I hope I'm not allergic to the soy. That is something to think about! The soy really helps in the gym though.

Muscle heals up quicker feels like, and I'm able to keep on pumping iron, but when I try anything with lactose in it my intestines get upset. Its really offensive to say the least.

Also, I've read that soy is good for the heart!

Oh, I've heard of people overcoming diabetes through strict diet. I'm not sure if yours is the curable type or not, but something you could look into maybe.

Im the curable type and have done so. but this was after damage was already done. But i feel great!

Now we are getting somewhere, how about rice protein or lactose free whey protein. Do you eat any meat? Also great gym food would be raw almonds, raw walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds. pecans. peanuts. Any kind of nut is high in protein and EFA's. Nuts are also high in arginine great for the penis also great for helping to lower blood pressure. Men should eat lots of vegtables because those high protein diets can cause constipation. Plus vegtables may help lower cbholesterol levels and keep you from getting high blood pressure.

Soy is bad for the thyroid gland, it blocks thyroxine, when thyroxine declines then testosterone declines. Cholesterol goes up hence high blood pressure then follows suit because you have narrowing of the arteries. Sounds far fetched i know but the thyroid part about soy is proven that is for a fact. About the gonad shrinking part that needs to be proven.

The vegetables are your saving factor here.

I really like whey protein. I eat meat, but I'm trying to cut down to one meal of meat a day and the rest fibers and veggies. Don't forget the Fibers boys helps with the digestion which is a key for the six pack!
