  • Shoulder Surgery?

    Hello,
Do they need to put you out when you get Shoulder Surgery for a Glenoid Labrum Tear?

I had a torn labrum repaired about three years ago. Outpatient procedure with general anesthesia. Trust me, YOU DO NOT WANT TO TRY THIS WITH ANY TYPE OF LOCAL OR NERVE BLOCK! I had an extensive tear with six screws required to repair. The doc almost cancelled the outpatient micro-surgery because he wasn't sure he could do what was required without opening up the shoulder further as an inpatient procedure. Lots of pain meds after, and a longish (6 mos?) time to full recovery. Not an easy surgery, but I am MUCH better off now than I was.
