  • Books/videos/documentaries on bodybuilding

I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks .. After that I'll be working out again. Get a hold of my life again .. I want to do it the right way .. I trained a lot in the past, got bigger than average guys, but never huge This was due to lack of good diet (not enough proteins etc.)

I want to read stuff on foods mainly .. For example, whey protein, casein protein, isolate protein, when to take them? expensive? etc.

Any books, videos or documentaries are good .. No documentaries about Arnold in his old days please .. Just useful stuff to get big!

Thanks, I'll give reps if you come up with some good stuff

I don't know of any books but google simplyshredded website (not spamming). Not only does it have great articles but also great motivational quotes. It talks about diets and what foods to eat.

Spermy, If size is what you are after, then a lot of your success happens in the kitchen. Best gains I ever made were eating a ton of red meat, whole grains (f*ck Atkins, no carbs just turns you into an asshole), broccoli (blocks estrogen), and water (gallon + a day). Hit up that diet all day every day, religiously. Save your time and money and forget about all the super expensive iso, casein, etc.. protein. Whey protein concentrate (never soy, unless you want man boobs) is all you ever need. Most bang for your buck. If you think you need more than 50g of whey protein and 5-7g of creatine monohydrate a day, then you aren't working hard enough in the gym and you aren't eating enough meat. Oh, and do you have any muscle magazines? Throw them all away. They just get you to think unrealistically about body building, and you end up buying all the BS supplements that the roided out IBBF pros sponsor and allegedly "take". That's the best 411 I can personally attest to nutrition wise on bodybuilding. If you want any advice on workouts, let me know. I would give you some of my personal resume on the subject, but until PE isn't taboo, the less personal info I leave on this site, the better. Cheers.

A ton of red meat? What about white meat like chicken and poultry?

+ I feel you on the bodybuilding magazines .. I bought Men's health 3 times this year and seriously, nothing usefull is in there .. It's such a basic magazine with nothing special in it ..

I'll send you my workout when I find the time for it. Thanks for the gesture!

Absolutely go with chicken and poultry, too. I emphasize red meat as a priority, though, because it usually has a tad more creatine in it, and it is a natural testosterone booster, more so than chicken and poultry. If you are worried about extra fat from red meat, then your options are burn even more calories while in the gym or sacrifice a little muscle building and testosterone boost, for the leaner chicken and poultry. It's up to you and your preferences on how you want your body to look, and how much you value looking really cut vs. being really strong/big (if you want both at the same time, you either have to make the whole bodybuilding lifestyle your idol, or use roids... both are bad ideas). Either pick cutness or strength/size as your priority, or try to compromise and strike a balance between cutness and strength/size. Also, don't waste your money on NO boosters like NO xplode, superpump, etc... They eventually don't work anymore unless you take like 4 scoops before working out, and you get addicted to where you can't workout without the shit. Just drink an energy drink and take like 5 grams of creatine monohydrate before your workout.

Why take something before a workout? Like you said already: won't it make me addicted to the energy drink and 5 grams of creatine? Is a glass of tea for example good? Get some cafeine/teaine and off you go?

Thanks for the comments so far! You seem to know a lot about it

Are you sure you want to workout with something in your stomach?

Sorry for the delayed response. Camaro, Eggs make for a good salmonella roulette protein shake (add milk and chocolate syrup and drink right after stirring well so the egg and milk don't separate). But other than that, whey protein is ideal because it digests faster. You want whey protein right after you work out so it can get to your muscles that you just stimulated into a state of protein synthesis (look it up). If you like the taste of eggs, go for it, but I have never leaned on them as if they were a vital nutritional staple. Fish is a great lean protein. Lots of protein but little calories. But its really more of a brain food and general health food than a testosterone food.

Spermy, Yeah, it can become easy to get hooked on energy drinks too, but they are a lot more economical, don't upset your stomach as much, and if you keep them to just like one a day (at most) they can give you a great kick into your workout. Caffeine is a great fat burner, too. Creatine for strength. Honestly, I think 5 grams of creatine a day is using it in moderation, and healthy for you really (drink plenty of water with it though to protect your kidneys).
