  • Supplements, testosterone boost and cycling

I have come to realise there is more to supplements to improve EQ, whether they impact only on blood flow or have hormonal impacts (eg affect libido) and specifically the issue of whether you should cycle and if so, how. I am an older male (66) suffering to some extent from ED so my perspective will be different from a younger person whose issues may be related to too much sex, masturbation or porn. I started by reading Kingpole's excellent thread on the 5 Gs (Green Tea, Ginkyo, Ginseng, Ginger and Garlic). I had assumed these were all aimed at stimulating blood flow etc but have since read Ginger for one is considered a test booster. Kingpole is an advocate of cycling the 5Gs with 5 days on, 2 days off. Sounds good. Now my EQ recently dropped and I temporally appeared to lose the ability to ejaculate. Not sure if this is a result of overconditioning from over enthusiastic extending/ jelqing or related to testosterone drop off from using test boosters (tribulus, HGW, MACA and recently tongat ali as well as the 5 Gs) on a 5 day on 2 day off basis. I read today that older men should also take one week off after a month on the 5 day on 2 day off routine when using test boosters. I also read from another source that it is a good idea to stagger test boosters so you take a different one each day (ie each one taken once a week). What are other members' thoughts on this? I should add I saw my Doc and had a Testosterone test today. Get the results next week. I also take L-Arginine 5 days a week and it HAS helped my EQ, and I believe my weight reduction/ fitness routine.

Welcome austfred. I commend you on your pursuit of natural test enhancement. I am 39 & i am trying the same approach - i guess along with your t levels you will know if you are happy enough with the improvements in libido and wel being.

Vulcan, thanks for the kind words. My real quandary is, though, which is the best way to cycle natural test boosters?

I get sent almost daily emails by a guy who recommends one t-booster each day, thus a 6 day rest for each one. He is v adamant that this is the best protocol.

I think you should cycle any supplement period as the longer you take them the more dose you need to get the same affect. Btw thought I should mention to anyone that hasn't taken a "test booster" pill before that might be wondering, just don't expect steroid results lol. I suppose you could take a different type of each time, but then you wouldn't really know which one is working for you.

1 month on 1 week off seems like a good approach. To get the most out of the test booster, should consider your diet(a clean diet) and the dosage, and watch for any un-wanted side affects.

TurtleProblems, that seems like good advice. I follow a pretty good diet, have increased my exercise and am losing weight. I have tended to take a moderate dose of the supplements other than Ginger which I have regarded to be more of a food than a supplement. I also read today that it was a good idea to take milk thistle on the week off to clean out your liver before you go back on the test boosters. I have tended to introduce the various test boosters one at a time and found no obvious negative effects other than the one I raised with this thread - that is my EQ and ability to ejaculate suddenly dropped off. I had had some good sessions with the extender after I discovered the DIY Velcro strap and heating before and during extending. I managed to get very good BPSFL but may have pushed it a bit far so at present not sure if my current problem is caused by overconditioning or too long a period on test boosters without a week break. Anyway I noticed my morning wood returned this morning and my break from both test boosters and extending will be up by Friday so hopefully I will be back fully in action by next week. I am still taking the L-Arginine 5 days on 2 days off and recently added pycnogenol to boost its effect.

Vulcan Thanks Read his free stuff. He certainly likes the staggering approach. He is recommending the same supplements I read about in the article that originally gave me the staggering idea. In his video he also alludes to PE to improve EQ as most of us here have found out. Not sure about his chilling the testicles idea but it might help. He is offering a more detailed manual for $37. Has anyone read it and is prepared to offer an opinion as to whether it is worth buying?

For the past few years i've suspected i may have low testosterone because i often feel weak and i struggle to gain muscle. And although i've never been tested for low testosterone last month i decided to purchased supplement d-aspartic acid: anyway i cycled it for 3 weeks and during that period i was waking up full of energy and genuinely feeling better in myself. So i will definately be taking it again.

Interesting However I have read that d-aspartic acid (DAA) carries the risk of increased estrogen production via aromatase. I found an explanation here http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Danger...et!&id=4632468 Apparently there are products you can take to inhibit aromatase which might be a good idea if you take DAA. I gather cycling is particularly important with DAA. Anyone else using it?

I've taken D-aspartic acid, numerous cycles, with no negative aromatizing reactions. And I can honestly say It's the best natural test booster on the market right now, IMO.

Just bought some D-aspartic acid locally to try out. They also sold me some Diindolylmethane (DIM) as an anti estrogen agent. One cap a day. Thought it might be safer that way. I gather there is a lot of it in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cauliflower.

Am I the only one who is scared that your body will become addicted to the stuff? When you decide to quit and you all of a sudden get lower testosterone flowing through your body .. Wouldn't that be bad?

I choose to leave my hands from this type of "boosters". Natural herbs are fine but those boosters in pill-form.. I don't know..

Definitely an issue. I thought the cycling concept is to stop your body getting addicted. Is not the idea for these supplements is to get your body to produce more testosterone? What I find annoying is the directions for use normally say something like " take one or two once or perhaps twice or 3 times a day". No advice that you should cycle. The bit I am finding difficult is how to cycle. I suppose trial and error will get me there in the end. At the moment I am on 5 days on two days off with an additional week off each month. Am thinking of trying the alternative one different one for 5 days with weekend free. At least it would be cheaper that way. Has anyone here tried that? [/QUOTE]I choose to leave my hands from this type of "boosters". Natural herbs are fine but those boosters in pill-form.. I don't know/QUOTE] Most of these supplements are natural herbs or are extracted from natural herbs. Not all are in pill form. So I am not sure if that argument is valid. This supplement thing is really catching on with a new shop in our mall just selling supplements and protein powders. The guy behind the counter told me all sorts are buying, not only jocks, and for different reasons such as weight reduction. I suspect the gyms are recommending them.

D-aspartic acid is an amino acid found naturally in the body. Technically, supplementing with it would be just as "natural," if not more so, than any herb. The cycles for test boosters don't really work on a daily scale. It doesn't matter if they ask you to take multiple doses per day, that's just to aid you with the timing of it's release. The cycles are usually so many days on, followed by so many days off. And I don't think an actual addiction would be a concern. Test boosters don't directly manipulate the type of hormones that affect a person in that type of psychological way. They increase testosterone, which is a sex hormone. Basically just giving you more energy, sex drive and possibly aggression, while decreasing your recovery time. These test boosters aren't like anabolic steroids. They aren't going to drastically change you on a psychological level, nor will they dramatically disrupt your natural hormone secretion. And as far as addiction; you'd be more likely to get addicted to some of these newer pre workout formulas.
