  • Training Your Eyes

    Hey everyone!

I'm wondering - because you live with yourself every day - sometimes it hard to see the gains/shape you have with your own eyes vs what you were before. I have been growing but I don't feel like I have but I've taken before/after measurements and I'm bigger, I'm barely able to even close small size shirts anymore and have to wear medium and now even sometimes large, I'm definitely heavier and 'fill my clothes' generally. But I still see a 'skinny guy' in the mirror.

How do I train my eyes?

No one at home says anything about my progress (even when I mention it) and I have no gf etc to see progress either Not sure what to do.

Take a picture. Then after so long, go back to that picture and compare it to what you see in the mirror.

Yup I did this. When I look down at my chest vs look in the mirror it looks different.... and so does the pic. Confuses me.

I think you need to train your grey matter, between your ears. Positive reinforcement; self doubting is dismissed right away.

I haven't read anything here that this is a physiological 'eye problem.' I'm getting the impression this is how you view yourself. This is how you see yourself in your head.

I heard this cool thing that really got me thinking... Someone said, we don't actually see anything. Not that we're blind, but what happens is that our eyes pick up light, in the form of photons, that are constantly bouncing off of stuff. Our eyes pick this up, transfer it through the optic nerve to the back of the brain where it is decoded as a message. I've heard that the image is upside down and backwards. The brain interprets this message and then projects it onto the world.
