I have great defined shoulders for a girl. This has not happened naturally. It has come from many "flies" using my max weight to burn out and Pilates (plank) and spi****** pushups. Maybe it's different for guys, but I'm thinking your weight would be higher and pushups are pushups.
I like your idea because I am not looking for to gain size. I only want to tone up because at 5'6" tall and 175lbs I have enough mass.
PE is a lot like sex. First you have to find your technique, rotate your routine, and then plan on it taking a while. Then you will find satisfaction.

I'm quite skinny, and I've been willing to gain shoulder volume. I've tried (and sometimes still do) dumbell lateral raises and military press, but what worked for me was definitely shrugs.
Many of you recommend walking on your hands. I've never tried that, so I wonder how difficult it is for someone who has never done that. I'm pretty sure I'll fall constantly.
Yea, it's tricky at first. If you don't want to learn to walk around on your hands, you can use the wall as a support.
