  • best routines for getting lean?

    Where does one start?

Abs arms legs back or cardio?

I am starting with abs, personal preference to me, but should I have conditioned my heart with cardio first? or do abs and cardio at the same time?

where I am in the U.S is the coldest it has been in years and years and years

so running jogging and walking are outta the question

So I am thinking once I recondition my abs I am gonna start circuit training again and that will be my cardio for the winter

Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Abs are some of the smallest muscle groups in the body. Exercising them will not require a lot of calories and maintaining them doesn't take many calories either.

You will want to engage both cardio and resistance exercises. Cardio will strengthen your cardiovascular system and resistance exercises will improve your strength. Alternatively, you could look at high intensity interval training (cross fit, insanity, p90x) to combine the two.

These are links to two posts that discuss how I lost about 40 lbs.

      sweet thanks bro

      I can't do insanity but p90x I can do

Insanity uses too many quick body movements and body weight as your strength training I can't do because I have messed up joints

but p90x seems legit I'll look into that

I'd go to a heated pool and take a bath I haven't had hot running water for almost 2 years now

This is also an excellent way to work. You'll get a little sore from swimming, but the load on the muscles is such that you can swim hard and/or far every day and have a low risk of repetitive strain injury.

A workout consisting of 200's every 4 minutes, 100's every 2 minutes, and 50's every minute will transform your body. If you don't flip-turn you may have to go 5 minutes, 2.5 minutes and 1.25 minutes respectively.

I like to work from 3s (3 200's, 100's, and 50's = 1050m) to 5s = 1750m. You can make that work-out as hard as you like just by pushing faster in the first few sets and finishing off hard with your 50s.
