I hear ya on the brain fog. I call it "the low carb flu". This is when you transition from higher carb to low carb and your body is basically going through withdrawal. Headaches and brain fog. But I feel like a million bucks when I'm consuming less than 100 grams of carbs per day. It makes me wonder why I fall off the wagon and eat high carb junk...I guess I'm a recovering sugar addict.Originally posted by Bnip View PostI did the keto diet to cut for the beach and lost the 20 pounds need to show mg six pack. The easiest way I've found to drop fat in the 29 years I've been researching health and fitness.Originally posted by BigO View PostI have done similar eating styles. I always feel great when I get a week into it.

I feel so much better on it. Like big said fat melts off if you are disciplined. The problem is my wife. She is a carb queen and it is a tough diet to do if both spouses aren't on board. I have a big birthday milestone coming up and this diet will do it for me.12-5-11 --- 7-4-14

That is a great point. It can be tough with a teenage daughter in the house. We have to keep a certain amount of junk food available for her and her friends.Originally posted by Bnip View PostI feel so much better on it. Like big said fat melts off if you are disciplined. I am currently trying my best to stick to this type of diet but it is damn hard. I need to lose some body-fat as I have been on a bulking/strength-building few months and put on a good few unnecessary kgs of fat along the way. Going to try to eliminate carbs from my diet as much as possible, I already eat paleo diet more or less as it is.

You dont gain fat from eating carbs, you gain fat from eating more carbs than you need. You can bulk and eat "less" carbs, you need them to bulk but if you gained fat then all you need to do is get a better eating plan.Originally posted by kickinthemebs View PostI am currently trying my best to stick to this type of diet but it is damn hard. Too many guys still use the old way of gaining mass, the majority of body builders now realize that staying in a healthy eating plan is better and easier than a bulking phase based on diet. You gain muscle just as fast if your plan is dialed in but this takes log books and counting. I used to log my work outs and my eating, my cardio too. It wa a pain in the ass but it works.Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before

Ah I know mate, sorry my last post was a bit misleading. I don't actually go on "bulking" stages like what I said, but just lift weights and try to increase my strength as much as possible over that period. My diet will usually be quite large from the extra hunger of lifting heavy. I don't have anything to do with bodybuilding at all as it is definitely not my aim or goal, I prefer strength training but at the same time I don't like having the amount of fat I have.
I realised I have put on a bit of excess fat though by not concentrating enough of my diet at the weekends (it goes to crap at the weekends, which I need to get in check). I will do a week of high intensity stuff the week after next, with minimal carbs as a shocker to my system. Trying to do a bit of running in the mornings too, which I think is helping. My frame is definitely an endomorph body-type, can put on muscle and/or fat so quickly. Just need to lose the fat part though haha.
The diet plan logging is a great idea, my housemate is actually doing it and I might start doing it too, it does sound like such a pain in the ass though!
