  • Home gym machine need help to create some compund exercises

    http://cdn.decordraw.net/images/imag...m-RM3001B-.jpg

I have something like this at home, not optimal but money is an issue so..... I am currently only doing the chest press and wide lat pull down. What other compound exercises can I do with this machine or create by creatively using this machine. I need to use it from time due to time constraints so I want to make the best use of it.

Hey bro, first of it really good you do some exercisses since this will never be a bad thing. Second of all How experinced are you in training (all sport you ever did/or do) and third is you machine capable of ALL the funcitons the one in the picture has? And by that I mean also the leg part and cable part by the leg part?

If you're doing chest press you should also be doing rows, do some cable rows (for every push there should be a corresponding pull). If you're doing pulldowns you should also be doing overhead press, but I can't see if that machine can do it. Doesn't yours come with a manual? Perhaps you can download a manual if you know the part number and brand?

Spend some time exploring the functions of the machine and work every body part even if you have to do single joint exercises instead of compound ones (leg extensions and leg curls for example are better than no leg exercises at all)

You can work just about every muscle with that set up. You just have to be creative and look at what exercise you want to do then figure out how it can be done on that machine.

          8 X 5 1/2 late summer 2014

Have you tried body weight exercises? I was an avid weight trainer for more than 25 years and switched to body weight training a few years ago and have had great results. Here are a few books that have been very helpful:

Complete Calisthenics: The Ultimate Guide To Bodyweight Exercise by Ashley Kalym

Convict Conditioning: How to Bust Free of All Weakness-Using the Lost Secrets of Supreme Survival Strength by Paul Wade
Strong Anywhere - The Minimalist Guide to Building Superhuman Strength by Simon Boulter
            (Late 1999): 6" BPEL x 5.25" MSEG
            (Early 2001): 7" BPEL x 5.75"MSEG (mostly Hanging/Jelqing)
            Aug 16th 2015: 7.375" BPEL x 6" MSEG
Goal: I have retired from PE - So my goal is just maintaining.

I like this guy and he has a lot of video's on you tube. If you look through his videos he does all sorts of odd or unknown exercises. He also likes to do no equipment needed workouts.
