  • reheated pork chops are the best

My first time writing something. Will continue. Pls be gentle.

Rosanne has been making herself her favorite pork chops for dinner when the phone rang. Curious who it might have been she picked up the receiver and put it on loud speaking mode without ceasing preparations of the salad.

    – Yes? Rosanne speaking.
    – Hello. It’s me Jake. I’m calling you because I have sad message to tell you. Timothy is no longer with us. He died today in car accident.
–Ouch!–Rosanne has cut her finger with a knife– It’s terrible how did this happen?
–He was hit by a drunken guy, and got pushed out of the road right into a tree. The funeral will be held in 2 days at our local cemetery.
–My god–silence lasted few seconds. – Thank you for telling me. I will be there for sure. – She hung up.

I can’t believe he died at such young age. He was 36 just like me and Ron. – She felt a constriction in her throat and cold running along her spine while speaking the name of her ex husband that she hasn’t seen for 6 years. – No, he won’t come. He is probably living in Europe now with some long legged, alabaster skin, young bitch. – She put half done pork chops into the fridge as she lost her appetite.

    – No he won’t come. What do you think Lincoln?
    – Meow! – said a large ginger cat while stretching his body.
    – Yes, you are right. I should not worry about it.

2 day later Rosanne was wearing to the funeral a black dress reaching right under her knees, 2’’ heels shoes, shear pantyhose, black clutch and strong red lipstick. Her honey hair glittering in the sun was only adding to her charm of mature confident woman. She was walking down the cemetery alley towards a small group of gathered people. – He is not here, thank god. – She approached the widow.

    – My sincerest condolences Amy. He was such a good friend. – Said Rosanne and hugged her friends wife.
    – Thank you. I will miss him.
    – We all will Amy, we all will.
    – Thank you. – Amy looked at everyone with restlessness like she was looking for someone but she couldn’t find that person. – We can start the ceremony. – She said and gave a nodding signal to the priest.

As the priest started Rosanne directed her sight into the ground. – I miss you Tim. Do you remember how we used to go shopping together with Amy? Or how we used to go hitch hiking to the mountains? Those times will not return. – Rosanne wiped her tears and lifted her head up.
The coffin was already being placed in the ground accompanied by the sulking sounds of gathered people. Rosanne glanced fast at everyone. Her eyes stopped at one point. She couldn’t believe. He was here. Her ex husband Ron.

It's always great to see someone venturing into the wonderful world of writing. Your use of fast pace and dialogue keeps the plot moving along and developing nicely.

It seems I cant even write a propper romance :P

Lincoln has found a perfect flower pot to do his business when suddenly he got scared off by a sound of keys turning in the lock. He rushed to the opening doors and slipped between legs of his master. – What happened to him? – Rosanne thought. She made her way up the stairs right into the bathroom. Turned the tap and started pouring hot water the tub. While the bathtub was filling up she took off her dark cloths and sank into relaxing warmth. – What was he doing there? He was supposed to be in Europe. Well Tim was also Ron’s friend so he had the right to come to the funeral. Ahhhh, too many thoughts. I need to stop thinking about Ron and get some rest before work.

      – Save and send. – Rosanne pressed enter button with triumph after finishing at last her project. Yesterday she couldn’t sleep due to thinking about her ex sudden appearance which now results in exhaustion. Rosanne stood up from the computer. Behind her rose a living overweight mountain of bone of flesh.

      – Hey Rosanne.
      – Hey Daphne. – Rosanne responded her stout friend co-worker.
      – Are you going for lunch break
      – Yes, do you want to join me?
      – No need asking twice. –Responded happily Daphne. – There is a hot coffee and warm bagel stand right before our building. We could buy some. – Daphne licked her lips. – Or many.
      – That’s my Daphne. – Rosanne faintly smiled.

The road was loaded with cars and pavement was crawling with pedestrians marching towards only known to them direction. Like an isle in the middle of anthill two women were enjoying their meal during precious time of lunch.

      – Rosanne, I know you for few years, and I know that something is wrong. – Said Daphne while munching her bagel.
      – Everything is fine. – Rosanne answered and sipped her coffee.
      – I don’t believe you. You are my friend and I know you. Today you look like you have seen a ghost. – Daphne pointed out while spitting bagel crust.
Rosanne sighed. –Not a ghost but ex husband.
      – What this mischievous bastard?! – Daphne shouted angrily. – What does he want from you? He wants to hurt you again?
      – No, I….
      – I bet he does. – Daphne interrupted. – If he tries to hurt you, he will taste my karate kick. – Daphne demonstrated a fine example of ancient martial arts by lifting her left leg about 2 feet high. She probably could do it higher but her skirt has ripped.
      – Oh no! – Rosanne turned towards her friend.
      – It seems it’s too many bagels for me. – Daphne returned her half eaten bagel to Rosanne. – But they are so tasty. – With gluttonous gaze she snatched the remains of bagel from her friend’s hands and dashed towards workplace. – Lunch time is over, we will get late.
      – Wait for me. – Rosanne called Daphne, smiled to the thought of having such friend and set off to the work.

Just keep going and make sure to read a lot too. Deconstruct what you read and see how it works and why. It sounds like you're developing a plot line which is great. I'd like to learn more about Daphne other than the fact she's fat and a bit comical. Could be a really good opportunity for character development there.

If a character has more than 2 lines I will for sure use it in future.
