I think as a couple you have a lot greater sexual freedom because the level of intimacy and conscious variance of sexual proceedings, also some variance within the sex act is only possible with a sequence sexual acts that progresses to the sex that is "out there" where you have dreamed to be.
Now the single life, the variance comes from the inherent or different in sexual experience that comes together in a way that provides variance, just because the different people coming together causes a different reaction. Also, I'll add that expectations in sexual act are different than the couple life, so that may provide different freedom, although there are different expectations there where you may have to stay within a certain mode of sex to not stray from the sexual synergy you have going because you don't have the same intimacy. Also, the mystery adds to more voltage, but probably not necessarily a greater freedom.
I think both provide freedom but in different ways, you just have to make the most out of what you have.
