  • Chlorella and spirulina super foods

Hi Guys and Girls, Chlorella is something that was sent to me in an email so have looked it up and found that Spirulina is another one that some people take with it, both can come in pills or powders, seems there main part is to up your veggie intake, but with lots of good things with it, like vitamins and supplements and good for lots of other thing.

Its a Japanese supplement, most things that come from Japan seem to be very good, and yes I have a link that should help, lots to read, don't be put off by the site name.

If you have any info or experience of these two, please tell.

The link above is very interesting, and also a way of lowering cholesterol, which means you keep away from sole destroying Statins.

I've been taking that for the last 3 months. Mix the powders with some apple juice. It tastes better. Gives you good energy.

Just be aware the first few days you take that you'll be shitting like crazy.

I've some experience too with those algaes. Especially spirulina I love - the effect has something spiritual to me.

The quality and hygiene of the cultivation method is very important because algaes absorb toxic substances. Those I've now were grown in glass tubes with a spring water system in a greenhouse. Sunlight from all sides can reach the algae.

I recommend to start with 1 pellet or max. 500mg and slowly increase the dosage because of the effect of absorbing toxic substances. In particular with chlorella I've had headaches when I started from zero to 5 pellets. But then I reduced the dosage to 1 and added +1 every two days. Now I do 10 - 15 every day and have no problems.

I'll still take a cheeseburger. You guys can eat the algae.

            Email... You mean SPAM?

Yeah, I have taken chlorella and spirulina in the past. I have read all the health claims and studies and I can tell you it's crap. Aside from both of those being a staple to detox shakes, another bullshit claim debunked by science, you're just buying an expensive green powder with trace minerals and salt. And depending on the brand you could be paying $20-$30 per month for a supplement that is ~$5-10 a pound in bulk.

In my honest opinion don't waste your money. Eat your spinach and get your iodine from table salt, and save your family from having to smell rotten seaweed every time you take a dump.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding about the meaning of superfoods. They're not some magical stuff which heal all your diseases. Superfood means it's has a lot more nutrients compared to other foods. Especially compared to lord bacons mentioned cheeseburgers of course.

I would always recommand to eat fresh food and not the dried version of it. But algeas are hard to grow for yourself and you should see as what it is - a food supplement. It supplements healthy food.

In every region there exists domestic superfood which often sank in oblivion due to the revolution of industrial food. This should be the first contact point. Unfortunately the stuff has not the same amount of nutrients it has in the past due to overcultivation and exploited soil. That's also the reason why edible wild herbs like dandelion are healthy because they're still in their orignal form.

It's sad TheGreatDivider that spirulina had no effect on you but every body is different. What works for the one doesn't mean it works for the other. Some people swear by OPC grape seed extract, I've tried it myself and had here no noticeable effect. I like astaxanthin more from the antioxidants.

For those interested in this subject I would look where has your body weak points or which area of your body or mind you want to improve. Then look which stuff targets this area, try it and feel if it has effect or not. Start with low dosage.

But one has to try these things just to see if its fits in with there life style and works for them, and have read of guys taking vast amounts of it, which I cant really see th real benifits of doing that, and wonder why they get sick, but then thats the same witha lot of drugs and vitamins or suplements, to much you will get sick and could die.
