But I do believe we could change other aspects like slut shaming and other forms of sexual harassment. If a guy cat called for example (I believe that's what you call It?) a woman and people around him didn't ignored it but addressed. I feel he would have second thoughts the next time.

There is talk in the UK school system to bring in relationship classes and earlier/better sex ed classes, I hope this will help things in this area, as with the break down of the family unit in a lot families and the explosion of internet porn, there's a lot of confusion out there.
People wouldn't cat call etc if they didn't benefit from it. So you are right if everyone around him told him he is being an *ss or if the woman he cat called could feel empowered enough to retort he would probably cease from doing so but realistically these guys are not the guys we are talking about. We are talking about men who get or find women alone and then intimidate them into doing favors for them because they want to overpower them. They get off on it. So yes, someone doing something in public with lots of people around is a social inconvenience and usually harmless but still unnerving for the person on the other end.

By the way, in my youth I have been out and about with friends and watched as they degraded men in the same manor. Have you ever been to a Chippendale performance? The education needs to go both ways. We, men and women need to learn to respect each other and stop viewing the opposite sex as an object to be toyed with.

    • No I've never been to Chippendales.

When I was 15 I went and saw the Dream Boys, same sort of thing and was horrified at the men putting penis' in people's drinks. And the women behaved crazy.

Always passed on those things since then, not my sort of thing. Recently declined seeing the ladyboys of Bangkok when loads of my mates went. I don't see the appeal.
Women were created from the rib of man to be beside him, not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled by him, but from under his arm to be protected by him, near to his heart to be loved by him.

      • Yet the worlds dating scene is currently run on a phone app where people swipe right or swipe left and the EXPECTED outcome is sex with that individual. We have so far devolved in how relationships start that part of me is embarrassed by it. But, it is set up as such that if one half of this "swipe left or swipe right" relationship didn't like the outcome, then they are free to say that they were sexually harassed.

And there in lies the key, yes we have predators, yes we have bad people, but much like divorce, where it always favors the women, so do these cases of harassment.

I know, small subset of the bigger issue, but most always, it is the guy that is the perpetrator and the women that is the victim. There are in fact documented cases where it was proved the reverse. I think that many of the recent string of teachers having affairs with students (most of the teachers were female and here in he states) is a classic example of the reverse type of harassment happening against men.

I have been to one Chippendale performance and spent maybe 10 minutes there and had to leave. The women were disgusting and these are the same women that turn around and are upset if a man acts the same way towards another women. People on both sides can be very hypocritical.

I can confirm that in my 13 years of teaching 4 people I know and worked with have been accused of inappropriate behavior with a student. 3 female, 1 male. 2 are in jail right now, 1 man and 1 woman.

            • I saw these stories today and found the whole situation pertinent to our discussion:

The first is an article titled "I went on a date with Aziz Ansari. It turned into the worst night of my life"
              https://babe.net/2018/01/13/aziz-ansari-28355

And the second is a response in the New York Times "
Aziz Ansari Is Guilty. Of Not Being a Mind Reader."
              https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/15/o...ment.html?_r=0

              • I was just watching a video about that Aziz guy. Sexual freedom is most definitely in danger and is almost about to be completely regulated. Well, for guys anyway.

The law seems to be moving from innocent until proven guilty to shifting the burden of proof onto (pretty much the guy) the accused from the person making the accusation, to confirm that they (he) received a "yes" rather than not received a "no".

However, why even bother going through the legal process of trying to arrive at the truth when you can throw out wild accusations on Twitter and get people fired from their jobs/destroy their lives etc without repercussion for false accusation.

I get the impression since some guys are just awkward and clunky when it comes to reading or approaching women, it is likely they will be punished for their inexperience or nerves in the not too distant future for having natural human desires and mustering the courage to act upon them.

Feminists seem to think they are empowering women, I think the exact opposite. I think the future is segregated if this pattern continues when I read things like - the vice president of the united states specifically asking for a chaperone to be present in a room with a female because "anybody can say anything with the door shut".

                • In the eyes of the law you couldn't have a sexual contract as consent can be removed at any time by either party.

Guy was convicted of rape in my home state when consent was removed during the act . Another even though the girl asked for a second session as it was ruled there was no consent for the first session another though consent was given because the girl felt intimidated and the guy should have know consent was thus suspect.

                    • Sounds like the Laws in your States and countries are a heap of shit. Men get raped too you know, coerced and blackmailed into sex too. I am not speaking personally. The problem is the lack of guidelines and acceptance universally of what is right and what is wrong in sexual encounters, whatever the age or sex or gender preference or gender identification of the persons involved. No fucking laws are going to fix that, just education and understanding.

                      • You know, I was trying to compile a message that wouldn't seem too abrasive, but fuck it. Sometimes things just need to be said.

I wouldn't read too much into this MeToo stuff as the good cause was hijacked by a bunch of man-hating nutjobs, as usual. The vast majority of women are still not stupid. They are perfectly capable of stating what they want and don't want. If it is somehow unclear, just leave them alone to grow up a little. A person not capable of verbalizing consent is not mature enough for sexual activity anyway.

No-one can be expected to be a mind reader and personality traits alone define our individual abilities to read each other in social situations, so looking top right for two seconds instead of three can not be considered clear communication unless you suffer from a serious case of quasi-feminism.

TLDR; Just leave the asshats alone, because apparently that's what they want.

                            • I remember the days when the Metro was the last newspaper you could go to for actual news with facts and non biased current affairs in science etc, not these poisonous opinion pieces designed to infect you with their toxin.

Also these guys that seem happy to attempt to sacrifice every other guy out there (without actually accomplishing anything themselves) to prove that they "aren't that kind of guy" is starting to get a little old.

Worth watching just for the clip at 23 minutes in. Especially the little doggie waggling his legs.
