Advice on cutting cable?

Does anyone have any advice on cutting cable but keeping internet service?

I'm paying $120 a month for cable and internet ($45 for cable and $65 for internet plus taxes) with Spectrum when I never watch cable TV. I only have one TV and it's not even connected to my cable box, it's in my bedroom and I only watch Netflix and Hulu through my Roku. I can do without watching live TV but I need high speed internet for college.

I'm looking for advice on how to deal with the cable company, because I really don't want to pay for another month of service I won't be using. Thanks.

Spectrum will let you drop the cable and keep the internet. They have internet only plans. I'm going to do the same thing.

You would think that they have a special program just for college students. I always go down and deal with them in person rather than over the phone. Explain your situation to them and see what they have. It also is good to make contact with any competitors so that you can throw some weight around and tell them that you don't mind switching to another company or going satellite. It won't phase the worker any, they are not on commission.

Every year, the cable company raises my rates, I go down in person and miraculously, they have a new program that brings my monthly bill back down to where it was before. But it means you have to stop in and have a face to face. On several occasions I was able to upgrade my service without incurring additional cost. You never know unless you try.

Only other thing I can think of is to get with a neighbor and offer some cash monthly for access to their wifi. Provided they have enough bandwidth to cover someone who streams movies and such. Win win for both.
