  • Where Do You Find Your Strength in Life?

We all have struggles that weigh on us. We all have fears of failure that drag us down. But each of us wakes up the next day and goes out and tries to do better. So, what are your motivations and what drives you to do better each and every day?

Fear of Cusp is not a valid reason...

Never let fear play a role in your life. Just enjoy being what you are and make no excuse for it. Unless of course you''re a real jerk and then make an excuse or three.
The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

I guess my question was too existential. My single most driving force growing up and it still drives me now was to try to never disappoint my parents. To always hold them in high regards whether I agreed with them or not. My biggest fear was that I was going to disappoint my parents.

Now that I am a parent, the focus has changed. I strive to make sure my kids, both in college, are the best that they can be, they have the most opportunity to succeed and are truly happy in life, but also experienced in life.

Both my parents have passed, but the morals that then gave me are still there and strong. Wonder sometimes how they would react to knowing I am a moderator on a dick site? I think that they would be proud that I offer several hours each and every day to trying to help others with their day to day struggles.

I want to be happy. That is pretty much it.

Of course, to be happy there are all sorts of preconditions:
            Food, shelter, sleep of course.
All of which require a decent job and the health to maintain that job. Unfortunately a job these days basically requires networking, so I have to maintain relationships and be connected to people.
Beyond that, happiness requires family, and my family being happy.

And to be happy I think I have to be the best I can be.

            I'm getting there.

ZZ like you I stopped trying to live up to my parent dreams for me. My father set a very high standard, oil chemist, several patents, he engineered the never needing to be changed continuous sealed transmission fluid. A genius for sure.

I know I could have done better in life, both for myself and my family. But I just am glad I stayed with my wife, was there to help my kids at the risk of my own financial security. Helped my son buy his own business and continue to support my daughter with insurance and on going cancer bills. What’s a dad gonna do anyway.

Not the way life was suppposed to be. But just another page. It’s ok.
A prayer, is kinda the same as a "Like". If there are enough likes, God will take notice. So "Like" away please. My daughter needs your prayers. Thank You.

I don't do better each day. I pretty much wait for entropy to take its natural course. Sure, on occasion I get some motivation from who the Hell knows where and do better for a bit, but I go back to realizing I'll fail at every single thing I do and that there's no point in trying just so I can end up in the same last place as usual. It would be a miracle to reach average levels of competence, so at this point there's really no reason to try. After all you can't lose if you don't try, and sure you can't win, but I'd much rather take a draw than losing constantly any day.

I schedule my worries; that way I can do some research first & think things over BEFORE i opt to work about an issue.

I decide upon successful outcomes first, and then plan a method to achieve. Often, I may feel free to adjust, mix in trial and error, and alter timelines on the road to getting what I am after.

I have also decided that whenever God needs me, I'm ready.
Until then, I'll just keep on keepin' on.
