I randomely remembered this story last night and thought id share since nobody knows about it execpt for those who were involved.
One night when i was about 6 or 7 me, my mother fathet and brother were getting ready for dinner. Me and my brother were sitting at the table, and so was our dad.
While my mom is serving us dinner my dad starts to tease her about being a bad cook and procedes to laugh, me being a child i join in. Since an adult is doing it then it must be okay, is pretty much how i though.
I guess my mother didnt like it because she gives my dad a pissed off look and drops the pot of what i think was either corn or peas. The pot wobbles after hitting the dinner table, me and my dads laughter falls silent and are grins fade. My mother walks out of the kitchen and my dad soon follows and an argument ensues.
I can't remember the exact words exchanged in the argument but i do remember my dad storming back into the kitchen, grabbing mine and my brothers plates and dumping the contents of the plates off the front porch and then doing the same with the cooking pots all while saying "if i don't get to eat then nobody gets to eat!".
I didnt realize it at the time but that night i learned a lot about my fathers character. Regardless of whatever went down with him and my mom, denying your children food because your a little pissed off is pretty shitty.
But this story has a happy ending. After all that went down my mom took me and my brother to Dairy queen. I think we got chicken strip baskets.
Do any of you have some odd childhood stories you would like to share?
