  • Does anyone else hate Apple as much as me?

I freakin' despise Apple (the company). Like utterly and irrefutably hate the company and their "business plan". Albeit they are a very successful company and their stock is great now, I hate them.
I find iPads to be stupid.
    iPods are peices of crap.
The iPhone is the biggest hype to hit the market in the past few decades.
MacBooks are crap (from a tech standpoint).

I guess Apple is known to be known as "the artistic" computer company. But seriously though the premise of Apple is to over-hype everything to the point of mind explosion as they release their initial product, and then several months later they are over-hyping THE SAME PRODUCT, but with what you might ask? A minor improvement that could be patched via firmware, or even fixed before the launch date.

Let's take a look at the iPhone for example.. The iPhone 4Gs or something came out today, which makes it the third or fourth different version of the iPhone to be released. What's the difference between this iPhone and the others? Virtually nothing, it's slightly faster, the camera's been upgraded slightly, I think it has a little bit more memory, and the internet loads crap faster? Come on now, they had that capability when they launched the first iPhone.

    And that's just one example!

Think about this as well, for the iPad, you have to subscribe to an additional $30 data plan, a month just to have internet on it. So you already pay like $800? for the actual iPad, and you have to invest another $1200 a year just to have internet on it? AND THEN on top of that, you have to buy 90% of the media on it, unless you are super resourceful with computers. Not a lot of people are to just get pirated apps and other stuff as well.

Apple products are gateways to get you to spend even more money to get movies, songs, books, apps, as well as other crap.

And yes I do know that there are apps and other stuff that is free, but let's be serious now, you buy something in order to use it to buy more stuff?

    I hate Apple.

    End rant.

iPads may be stupid (I agree with that) but iPhones work brilliantly and Apple computers are excellent. Yes, they cost more. But they work really really well. Right now I have and regularly use an Apple desktop (G4), two laptops (a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air), an iPhone, and an iPod. They all sync perfectly. I can enter an appointment on the calendar on my iPhone and the next time I turn on any of my 3 computers, the appointment is in my calendar there. I can check my email (three separate accounts) from anywhere. I have never gotten a virus on any of my machines -- and I have been using Apple computers for 21 years. I know a lot of professional scientists, including computer software designers, and although they are all competent on PCs and may use them at work, they almost all own Apples as their personal computers. Most also have iPhones. When I got my new laptop (a MacBook Air) to travel with, I was able to copy 100% of my files, software, and settings from my other laptop to the Air in 20 minutes. 100%. No problems.

In contrast, I had a PC as a home computer for 5 years, and spent innumerable hours on the phone with techs in India and god knows where else trying to fix problems. It has had viruses inside viruses. It is impossible to copy settings and software from one computer to another without professional help. I am sure there are software settings and ways of syncing phones and laptops and email across Windows computers and phones, but I do not know anyone who does this successfully unless their system is provided by and employer and maintained by an IT department.

So.... do I mind that Apple makes money off me? Not really.

I think Android is the future OS. However, I don't hate Apple, just the way they run things and their proprietary crap. Apple is the Pioneer in my opinion. The only apple product I have owned is an iPod, but they work for me for what I need them for, movies,

Apple is great for those who don't understand simple computer technology. No offense to those who use Mac's at all, however At least that's what I found as a PC tech for 6 years.

I cant stand apple products either. Mainly, because they charge people way too much , and make people believe that they are getting something way better than a pc or other mp3 player. I like pc's because I can build my own desktops However, I hope google tops microsoft and apple altogether, droid is great!

This is what I hate about Apple computers. If my PC is messed up, I can fix it myself. It tells me what the error is. Apples tend to just say 'error'...
I don't know how many times my iPod has frozen as well.
iPhones are fun to play with, but they are sucktastick as a phone.

Yeah, but in 21 years of using Apple computers daily, I have gotten error messages maybe 5 times.
Not like PCs, which seem to have problems all the time. That's cool if you can fix yours..... but I prefer having a computer that doesn't need to be fixed in the first place.

I don't mind the iPod but the iPhone? Really? I look at all the people with iphones and I just want to flash my actually nice phone and say "Hey, I can call, text, even have an alarm clock and timer. Did I have to spend $400 on my phone? No, I spent $15. The rest of that unspent $385 will go towards actual, practical expenses."

Wow ..... why such a diss to Apple? Did they piss in your Cheerios? I'm no cheerleader nor am I any sort of "product evangelist," but Apple as a company and the products they develop and sell are really no different from any other on the market. You are definitely inclined to have your preferences and to feel the way you do about them, but "hate" is a pretty strong word to toss out there about a company that, for a good chance, doesn't even know you exist.

Having said that, yes, I do have several Apple products and enjoy them to no end. I have a 3GS iPhone (I refuse to buy the first iteration of any product as there are ALWAYS hardware and software issues that have to be resolved - I figure the 4 will have its kinks worked out by the end of the year and then I will "consider" getting one - I've yet to find anything to justify upgrading over my 3GS), and I have a MacBook Pro that I use as my everyday. I also have a MacMini and have plans on installing a Mac-based stereo system in my truck. Why? Mostly because I can but ultimately because I dig my iPhone and want to integrate it into other appliances and systems. Was it worth what I spent on it? I certainly think so and would shell it out again without hesitation.

I've been in IT over 15 years and while jetsetter439 may be slightly correct in his statement of Apple products being a dummied down system, there are many areas in which the standard PC (specifically its integration between hardware and software) will NEVER come close to touching Mac OS technologies and baseline code. There's pros and cons on both sides of the fence. I too agree that Apple products are way too overpriced, but I have YET to have one crash - I don't have enough fingers, toes, eyelashes and other stuff on me to count ho many times it's happened with PCs.

I've never owned a Mac, but I have some friends that swear by them and won't use nothing but them.

I would have lined right up with the OP before.

I had an iPod nano, and that was my first Apple device. pretty damn stout. It was stepped on and I was very sad, but I liked it. outside of that I thought the iTards that flocked to the apple products like they were the best on the market were the most braindead/brainwashed bunch of sheep to ever exist.

All that being said, The new iPhone 4S is replacing my phone now. I've been a staunch Android user. Always laughed at iPhone users, but now... the iPhone 4S actually is the best all around phone for me. I am going to be an iTard! It's got both CDMA and GSM antennae, the camera is now on par with the best of the Best from the Android market, It's go the dual core precessing speed i want, A solid, stable operating system, and then it combines all those things into a pretty package... Nothing on my carrier combines those assets in one phone without it looking like crap. I actually can get down with the iPhone 4S, My only concern is whenever they Jailbreak it. I need to get it jailbroken for the MyWi access.
