Got 'Alexa' ?

I've got an Alexa. I ask her to play 80s music in the kitchen. Sometimes soft rock.

Ive got given some of lightbulbs a few years ago but I've done nothing with them.

Added an infra red detector to the front door lobby. Depending upon the time of day/night, it will trigger different actions. Announcement or Alarm to homeowner. Friend or foe ?

Added a LED Bulb to the range hood over the stove. Alexa has it at 10% as a night light in the kitchen, after hours. Cook can set brightness, on, off , by voice as required. Hands free control is nice.

My "night light gróup" has 5 various lights, lamps, bulbs in it, all set to night light low levels, every night, until 6am. LED bulbs use little electricity. I no longer wander about in total darkness, oblivion.

Received and installed two extra 'Sensors'; put one in my office, one in the living room, along with an existing sensor in the master bedroom, and the one integrated into the thermostat in the hallway.

System looks at all sensors, time of day, and if area is occupied. Also factored in is:
1. is anyone home, what area are they in.
2. if no one is home, allow setback of temperature settings, for saving$.
3. are sleeping hours in effect. If yes, only factor in the bedroom sensor.
4. monitor the temperature of each individual sensor/location.

Goal is enhanced comfort, of occupied areas.

(ecobee smart thermostat, linked in w/Alexa, wifi)

Today, I added $31 gadget to my living room ceiling fan, which retrieves the living room temperature from Alexa, and decides upon Low, Medium, or High speed for the fan. It will raise or lower fan speed pending what the ambient room is .

At 1am every morning, it powers off the fan. At 10am, it resumes speed control versus ambient temperature. Nice !

I was shouting at my Alexa the other day while working from home.

None responsive, I got myself in a tiss, and rang a colleague to say it wouldnt switch off. I then went to demonstrate this via teams meeting, shouting Alex turn off, Alex turn off....

Added control of my Master bedroom ceiling fan today, into my Alexa's network. I can now turn on/off, change speed of that fan, by voice/Alexa/ or schedule. Nice convenience when in bed, not have to mess with controls or pull chains hanging from said fan.

Also created a Group "All Fans", so as to turn on/off, all 4 fans in the house, by simple voice command.

May add the hallway ceiling fan into the mix, but that is not any kind of priority or "must have". Getting ready for summer......

May look into having the ecobee Smart themostat turn on all the fans at certain temperatures or conditions. Might be overkill of sorts, needs more consideration.
