I knew it would happen.
I didn't have any Air-in-the-Can. So I couldn't blow my lap top clean. I figured the vacuum cleaner would work almost as well.
My computer has been running super hot lately. The fan has been cranking. I've never cleaned this old machine so I knew it was time.
One screw is all it took to remove the bottom panel to expose the fan and processor.
Sure enough there was lots of dust and fibers in there.
So I got out the vacuum and carefully sucked it all out. I hovered the nozzle about a centimeter above the surface of the internal parts - got the fan spinning real good. I sucked the little air filter strips over the intakes out real good too.
And then it happened
I sucked off my A.
I thought it would be a good idea to try to suck any dust, lint, cat hairs, and other gunk out of the recesses of the keyboard while I was at it.
As I started glancing the keyboard with the little brush attachment, it struck me:
"And I'm probably going to suck some keys right off with this genius plan."
All seemed well - my doubts unfounded - when I heard it:
CLICKETA-CLACK! Right up the hose went something. Yep. The A key was missing.
I had sucked it right off.
So I opened up the cannister and found it amongst the swirl of dust and hair.
As you can see, it was easy enough to click back into place.
What else to do on a lonely 4th of July? Clean your computer. Happy 4th everyone!
