OK, I have another issue that just came up today. This is actually work related.
Back in April, I got my first ever promotion. Recently, like mid September, I got ANOTHER promotion for another job I applied for (both promotions are within the same organization).
The first promotion caused me to have to leave the facility where I was at as well as my friends and transfer to another facility 15 minutes away. Not a big deal. I didn't want to leave but knew that I HAD to if I wanted to climb the ladder.
About 2 months into my new position, another recruitment came up and I decided to apply for it as well. Through the grapevine, I heard that several of the positions they were recruiting for were at my old location and because I wanted to go back, I went for it.
Long story short, I got the second promotion and was sent back to my old facility to be with my old friends. Before I left my first promotional job, I was talking to one of my friends via company email, we'll call her Shannon. Shannon told me she was talking to another guy, we'll call him Bill. Bill was blown away that I got the position and made some left handed comments that he didn't feel I could handle the second promotional position, that it was way above me, blah blah blah. Real nice things. So, Shannon told Bill "you realize you're talking about my adopted brother right??". Shannon and I have a real close, good friendship.........a sort of brother, sister relationship, hence why she calls me her adopted brother.
Well, today after work, another one of my friends (we'll call her Michelle) who also works at this facility..........a friend that I've know for about 18 years, called me to see how the training was going and such. Michelle then went on to tell me that a couple of people weren't exactly thrilled that I was coming back and were talking some pretty negative shit on me. So, I naturally asked who? "Bill and Shannon"...............I was blown out of the water. I knew Bill had said some crap because Shannon told me and Shannon told me that she made it a point to let me know she told Bill who it was he was talking smack about and that he better knock it off. Well, according to Michelle, Shannon joined in the shit talking. They both felt that I was simply "given" this second promotion and that neither of them felt I was qualified to do the job. Well, one of Michelle's friends (we'll call her Melanie) overheard Shannon and Bill talking shit and told them both that I had earned the promotion because I've worked my ass off for this organization and because I had a 4 year degree. Both Shannon and Bill went off mumbling to themselves.
My question is, do I confront Shannon about this crap? She sent me a few texts tonight and I didn't give her much in the way of any responses. I guess I'm just stunned. Michelle and I have been friends for nearly 20 years and I KNOW for a fact she wouldn't lie about this sort of thing. She's always been one of my biggest supporters and if she tells me that these two were talking shit on me, I believe it. I just don't know what to do. Do I confront Shannon and get the full denial that I'll get and then risk losing that friend........although if she was talking shit on me, she isn't much of a friend apparently.
Need some input here guys and gals. I know jealousy is an ugly thing but shit..............really????
