  • Favourite Male Actors?

It's too hard to name just one favourite actor, so who are some of your favourite male actors?

I probably do have one main favourite actor, but I'm conflicted about it because.... it's Tom Cruise. Now, I understand that he's a strange fellow and his life and religion are odd to say the least, but.. I don't really care what he does when he's off the screen. On screen, I reckon he's electric and a brilliant actor. Think of some of the movies he's done. How about that crusty old foul mouthed movie exec in Tropic Thunder? Lol. No one saw that coming. Or the grey haired hitman in Collateral. There was Interview with the Vampire, a role all the Anne Rice fans were up in arms about when they heard of the casting, and then couldn't stop singing his praises afterwards. His show stealing performance in Magnolia, and the rocker in his latest movie. I won't argue about his personal life being weird, but he's still a damn fine actor and still my favourite actor too.

Another big one is Mickey Rourke. He hasn't been in enough movies for me, but when he is he just oozes awesome and cool. Like Whiplash in Ironman 2, and even the smaller role in the Expendables. I thought his performance in The Wrestler was touching, and I'm not afraid to say it, I think Mickey Rourke is one sexy, crusty old guy. I far prefer his older image than when he was young. It's gritty and masculine and I can see the wisdom in his face from life's lessons.

Some other favourite actors of mine are John C. Reilly and Will Ferrel, not just because of that one movie. John C. Reilly was also in Magnolia, but be warned, some people have hated me for recommending this movie to them. I think you either love it or hate it. His performance in Carnage was amusing too. There's a heap of movies that he's done that I haven't seen, so that's great for me actually because I still have a heap to watch. Will Ferrel is just awesome and never fails to make me laugh.

Edward Norton is also way cool. Two words: Fight Club.

Who are your's and what movies do you like of their's especially?

Vulcan, what's a good Gene Hackman film? I've seen quite a few where he has a secondary role. Is there a good one where he is the leading man?

ThinJohnny, great choices. I think we have similar tastes. I loved the movie Fearless with Jeff Bridges, I really connected with that film. Eternal Sunshine is a properly good film. One of the best ever. The part that always puts a lump in my throat when I recount it is when he's grasping to keep that one memory under the bed sheets. Wow, I could hardly breathe during that bit. It was great to see that potential in Jim Carrey and I have referred to him as a genius a few times since then.

I can't believe I forgot Bill Murray. Groundhog day is my favourite movie...... EVER
Kevin Spacey will be forever cool after The Usual Suspects

I'm going to have to look that one up. Hmm intruiging

So many good actors. After this thread I should make a favourite female actors, but it's hard sometimes to appreciate talent over a hot body for me when it comes to favourite female actors. *Challenge accepted*

I saw Total Recall last weekend. I'm easily pleased but still, I tell you what you just have to ignore those movie critics. They see so many movies that they're so jaded they can only be interested in arty farty weirdo movies and don't know fucking rocking entertainment when it grabs them by their tits. It was so awesome, my poor brain couldn't hardly even take it. So many cool ideas and relentless action. I thought Colin Farrell was brilliant in that. I was impressed by just his small reactions, and like, the way he responded emotionally to other actors was totally original and made him a real character for me. Could be one of my new favourites, I have to see some more movies of his...

Sean Connery for his role as James Bond (my fave Bond - Roger Moore is second to me)

Jimmy Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life. ("Do you want the moon, Mary? I'll tie a lasso around it and pull it down for you." - Classic)

Terry Crews. Why? Because his bicep will kick me in the nuts if I don't have him as a favourite.

Lots of great actors already mentioned. I did not see anyone mention THE actor yet. Christopher Walken. Love him especially in his "Gabriel" roles in "The Prophecy" movies. Steve Martin is another favorite.
