I read through a little bit with my girlfriend, it's pretty terrible, she even agrees.

It's probably a girl thing. I can imagine a lot of girls read it like a love story, constantly wondering throughout the day what's gonna happen next with the characters .. And then the sex gives them some blush.

It's bad and I'm not just saying that. Lines like "I don't make love, I fuck." are common place, supposed to be edgy and exciting I think.
I think it's snowballed a lot and even people with common sense and decent taste have picked up copies just to see what the fuss is about.
Sex scenes are pretty lackluster too I'm afraid, not once has my girlfriend rolled over after reading and demanded that I spank her during doggy
