So if the p.o.s. was only using 10 rd mags instead of 15 rd mags that changes things how?

        • Guns don't kill people, people kill people
        • You can't take away my Second Amendment rights.
        • More people die in car accidents, should we ban cars?!
        • You can kill people with knives, should we ban knives!?!
        • If we take guns away from the law-abiding people, only the criminal will have guns!!
        • Prohibition didn't work for alcohol and it won't work for guns
        • The problem isn't the guns, it's mentally ill people
        • If a crazy person is determined to kill someone, they'll do it with or without a gun
        • We need weapons to protect ourselves from a tyrannical federal government
        • Well we're nowhere near as bad as [insert lawless third world country].

But consider this: among the world’s 23 wealthiest countries, 80 percent of all gun deaths are American deaths and 87 percent of all kids killed by guns are American kids.

So you can keep on trotting out the same tired cliches ... or you can compare your gun homicides to Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan and other similarly progressive nations ... a couple of hundred at most compared to over 9,000 in America ... and accept that something has to change.

I pray that Congress, whether they like it or not, will begin a debate about some
kind of rational policy regarding guns--the ARA be damned. I still suffer the anguish
of a gun tragedy perpetrated by a family member.

So sorry to hear that going4.

As an outsider, I'm extremely conscious of the ability or the right to comment on another culture in an informed and respectful way.

But hey ... we're all entitled to an opinion. Whether it gets heard or makes sense is something entirely different.

For so many of us non-Americans, we look at your wildly disproportionate gun homicides and we wonder what it's going to take for you to look at comparable nations and realise that something isn't working. Clearly it's an issue that so many of you feel so passionately about, and that you see as such an important part of your identity as a nation ... and that makes it hard for you to even have the discussion.

[Not the right kind of peace sign but ...]

If you don't like firearms the solution is simple. Don't own one. Thats your right. But don't infer that those that choose to own firearms are unsophisticated loofs. I am proud that I live in a country that at least at one time trusted its citizens enough to be armed and the right to self protection isn't a crime like it is in some of the "progressive" countries. Something that is often overlooked is that the second amendment was intended as a means of a check and balance to thwart a tyranical government. It isn't about hunting.

Is Mexico a progressive nation. Their gun control laws have done an outstanding job of thwarting gun crime. Oh some may say that the majority of their crime is comitted with Anerican guns. Propaganda. The truth is most of the illegal firearms in Mexico come from central and south america. Its only the traceable firearms that come from the U.S. The full auto AK-47's, M2 heavy machine guns, SAWs, Mortars, RPG's MK 19's and crew served machine guns, contrary to popular ignorant belief are not sold in American gun shops.

Is the asshole that did this culpable at all or is it just the evil guns fault. Perhaps you would feel more warm and fuzzy about it if he used explosives, firebomb, crossbow or a knife.

This is by far the most evil and disgusting act I've ever seen.
I have 4 kids from 3 years old up to 15 years old. I can't even begin to imagine what these families are going through or what those poor innocent kids went through the latest moments of their lives. I was sick to my stomach after hearing the news last night and slept terribly all night waking up several times with tears rolling down my face. I just can't believe a person could ever be that evil to do something like that, I'm having a terrible time trying to wrap my head around it. The world has truly become a disgusting place

Imagine how people in places like Somalia feel. Probably desensitized to it, to a degree.
