  • BigO's Do it your selfers trades men advice thread

I thought I would get a thread going here for all of us who have a trade or are in the construction and home improvement fields. If you are a tradesmen and would love to give advice to our members go ahead and name your trade.

I am a roofer, owner of my own small business. If any one has a question about asphalt shingles, metal roofing, or cedar and shake shingles ask away, if you have a leak and wanna get an idea of why you have a leak, ask away.

I personally do not do flat work, the insurance is a killer, but I have done it when I myself was a laborer so I may be of some service in this area as well.

If you are getting bids and you want to know what to look for, both good and bad ask away.

Any other tradesmen want to help our members let me know what you do.

I'm a writer by trade. The best way I can offer my services, I suppose, is by improving members' online dating profiles. I've helped a few already.

I am an auto mechanic by trade(30 years). I have some experience in drywall, electrical, plumbing, floor tile, etc. when rebuilding my home after a hurricane took the roof.
I need to redo some of the work done by that incompetent contractor that worked on my house, mainly the roof so I'll be asking you about that BigO.

If I were to roof my own house I would use either snap lock meatl or a composition shingle called presidential and I would use stainless nails since they would match the warranty of the roofing product.

I'm a carpenter by trade but I can do pretty much anything from the footer up. Most of my work is remodeling as there is not much new construction going on around here. I would be more than happy to try and help anybody with the problems as everyone has been so helpful for me.

Hey BigO we do a lot of roofs also, just out of curiosity what are you paying for a square of 30 yr. architecturals in your neck of the woods (you can pm if you want).
