Lots of lubrication and be sure you are completely relaxed. There is a natural tendency to hold your breath and clench your little bud when it is about to be breached. To ease the penetration you should breathe deeply to help you relax. Also, find a comfortable position and then push your anal muscles out like you are about to have a bowel movement when you insert the dildo. This will help temporarily relax your sphincter. The head of the dildo will be the most uncomfortable to insert initially as it is usually larger than the shaft.

Remember that the anus is not self-lubricating so you may need to apply more lubricant as you go.
