    Hey PursuingPerfection,

Personally, I do not find that thinning hair or baldness detracts from a man's attractiveness at all; provided he doesn't attempt the "comb-over" look. Now having said that, I do understand that many men, such as yourself, are uncomfortable with hair loss. So besides the option of taking medications for the rest of your life (Rogaine, Propecia) or investing in the cost of a hair transplant, here are some things that may help...

    Determine the cause...

Doctors often diagnose balding by sight alone: If your hair is only on the sides and middle top of your head, the bare areas form the letter M (as in male-pattern baldness). But thinning that spreads across your scalp and not to your crown or temples often indicates an underlying health issue. Hormonal or nutritional deficiencies, such as thyroid problems, low iron, or low protein, can cause shedding. In other words, don’t assume it’s genetic. It is therefore recommended to see a dermatologist as soon as thinning begins so you can have a scalp biopsy to rule out any potential illnesses.

    Switch your shampoo...

Dozens of shampoos claim to make your hair look thicker, but only one ingredient has been shown to truly preserve your hair. Ketoconazole, an antifungal used to fight dandruff, may save your hair by reducing production of testosterone (and therefore DHT) in hair follicles, according to scientists at the University of British Columbia. In fact, in a Belgian study, balding men who used a 1 percent ketoconazole shampoo two or three times a week for six months saw a 17 percent reduction in hair shedding. Try Nizoral A-D, the only nonprescription shampoo that contains ketoconazole. Lather up with a quarter-sized dollop two or three times a week; any more could dry out your hair and cause breakage. Use non-irritating baby shampoo in between.

    Eat smarter...

Cleaning up your diet. Start by skipping fried foods; this may reduce oil-gland activity, slowing the switch from T to DHT, according to research from India. And watch the desserts: The insulin flood from consuming a lot of sugar can trigger the release of testosterone, making it available for conversion to DHT.

    Consider Laser Therapy...

In 1967, a scientist zapped the skin of shaved mice with lasers to see if the light caused cancer. It didn’t spark the big C, but it did trigger the big H: hair. This led to low-level light therapy, an FDA-approved treatment for mild to moderate male-pattern baldness. In a new Korean study, people with hair loss who regularly wore a light-therapy helmet at home noted increases of 22 percent in thickness and 15 percent in hair density after 24 weeks. You can either have a doctor administer the treatments or invest in a LaserCap, a device that fits under a baseball cap.

My dad started going bald early on I think in his 20s. I just looked online about male pattern baldness and it says you get a receding hairline and your hair starts getting this near the crown. So I took a pic of the crown of my head and couldn't believe it but you can see my fucking scalp bcuz the hair in that area is so much thinner. I feel on the verge of a panic attack. I eat so fucking healthy and juice vegetables everyday and this happens to me. I already have slight body dismorhpic disorder. This could be the end for me. How can I stop this from happening? I've read that putting onion juice in your hair can regrow it but their just be a permanent way to stop this and regrow my hair.
You're screwed hair wise. Get over it. Nothing you can do, you can try to fight it but genetics take over any way you do it.

On genetic things that could be wrong with you bald is nothing to worry about. I would rather die an old bald man then a young guy with a full head of hair but some horrible genetic problem. Doesn't seem to matter to the women.

wow man. I'm jealous. If that is *the* most depressing discovery in your life, you have it really easy.

I remember the first time I ever heard about the sex trade. THAT was depressing. Or, the AIDS epidemic in parts of Africa and how children were being raised by their grandmothers because the parents had already died. That was pretty depressing. Or how the ground beef I'm eating is probably the combination of thousands of cows - all of which were abused, given artificial hormones and other drugs that I'm now ingesting. that was upsetting.

Dunno. I've heard a lot of stories of women who find bald guys attractive. Lots of guys shave their heads willingly, so there's something to it. Then, you get cool nicknames like cueball and people rub your head for goodluck. How great is it to be a goodluck charm for everyone? Then you can say something stupid and cheeky to your lady friends. "oh down on your luck? Just rub my head!"
And if you're at a sporting event, maybe you can use your bald shiney head to reflect the light into the opposing team's eyes and effectively help your team win the game!

I remember Kelly Slater from Baywatch (i'm in UK) but i suppose he's more famously known for his surfing. But i'm sure Kelly in his younger days absolutely loved his hair but did it affect his looks when he lost his hair? I would say 20 years later and now bald he's better looking.

So i would say losing hair makes little difference to a mans looks. So in my opinion i think you are worrying about something which is not that important in life.
