  • Penis size and standard deviation

    Hmm if 5.75 " is average and .75" is standard deviation then 6.5" is 1 standard deviation above average ,7.25 is 2, 8 "is 3 ,8.75 is 4, 9.5" is 5 , 10.25 " is 6, 11 " is 7 and 11.75" is 8 std dev.
    All bpel.

Now 3 standard deviations is 3 per thousand or .3%.
Anyone want to fill in the % for 4,5,6,7 and 8 standard deviations?

Is .75" a reported standard deviation that you found? It would help us a ton if we could look at your particular study.
    Focus on the positive :D

There are a variety of average size and standard deviation quoted but they all fall around this . So for instance if you pick a study at random it may have 5.6" bpel and .8 standard dev but close enough .

If average size of length is 5.75 and the deviation is .75 is means that average between would be (5.75f+-(.75f/2.0f)). The low end is 5.375f and high end is 6.125.
This is fairly accurate in what most say about average length which is more like 5.5-6.2.

Not too sure you can really calculate percentages off the higher deviations -- Penis size is a bell curve, and if I recall, once you get above 7.5" (give or take 0.5"), things start trailing off very quickly as less and less people exist at sizes that large (or small, if you go the other way).

Granted if Pegasus' numbers/data is correct, I'll gladly take 7.25" as 2 above the mean. I've always believed that if you fall within the the first you are average, between 1-2 you are above average, 2-3 you are large/big, and 3+ you are certifiably huge. I've got 8" in my sights for 2015, so this would give me even more motivation to try to make it there by new years next year (if it is possible).

            I'll chime in...

Standard deviation and mean are descriptive statistics which can be very useful with information that falls within a bell curve. Each standard deviation from the mean represents a percentage total of your data set where expected values lie.

For instance using Pegasus' data set, which is congruent with established data sets.

            Mean: 5.75"
            Standard Deviation: .75"

1st Standard Deviation means ~68% of data points should fall within +-.75" or 5.0-6.5".
2nd Standard Deviation means ~95% of data points should fall within +-1.5" or 4.25-7.25".
3rd Standard Deviation means ~99.7% of data points should fall within +-2.25" or 3.5-8.0".
4th a Standard Deviation isn't relevant is almost never used, it's approximately 99.9% and change. Where standard deviations are concerned you usually don't talk about more than Three Standard Deviations with a standard Bell Curve. 5th, 6th, etc arent generally useful in statistics.

Now, all of this relies on a nice true Bell a Curve, unfortunately in th real world things don't always nicely fit a Bell Curve. We know this is true because there is a difference between our Mean, or true average, and our Median, our 50th percentile. This basically tells us that are larger values are larger than median by a greater amount than those smaller than median are. It skews the Bell Curve. Here is a very simple example.

            Data Set: 3,4,4,5,5,6,7,8
            Median: 5
            Mean: 5.25

Basically the larger 8 skewed the data upwards. This is similar how Penis Size Mean and Median interact and why the Median, ie 50th Percentile is smaller than the Mean or Average. Median is more useful for figuring out how a guy stacks up and it is ~5.7x4.7.

Where Penis size doesn't fit a Bell Curve is especially true for Girth, the data gets funky and it really doesn't fit a Bell Curve. Standard Deviation is still useful, just not to the degree that it normally would be. Basically as far as Girth is concerned we see more larger values an less of a true peak.

Take a look at the Mr. Average data, you can see how Length follows a very nice Bell Curve, only slightly off by some rounding that occurred during measuring while the Girth follows a more odd distribution with more 4.25-4.5" and 5.25-5.5" Girths than expected etc.
Mr. Average - The true story about penis size, from a site that isn't trying to sell you anything.

To to answer the OP 4th, 5th, 6th etc Standard Deviations just aren't useful especially in data sets that vary from a Bell a Curve at all. And a 4th Standard Devition is virtually the entire data set to a very high degree of confidence, actually a 3rd Standard Deviation at 99.73% is already the entire data set in the majority of circumstances.

Looking back, I kind of wish I hadn't written this on my IPad.
            Initial(9-1-11): BPEL: 7.25", BPSFL: 7.75", EG: 4.75", BEG: 5.25", BPFL: ~5.0", FG: ~4.0"
            Current(7-1-16): BPEL: 8.375", BPSFL: 8.75", EG: 5.375", BEG: 5.875", BPFL: ~6.625", FG: ~4.75"

Realistic Goal: BPEL: 8.5", EG: 5.5"
Idealistic Goal: BPEL: 9.0", EG: 6.0", BPFL: 7.0", FL: 5.0"

Ok it seems I have to explain the use I have for this
Now I am well aware that dicks above 8" are very rare , however we consistently get stories where a guy says his girlfriend had a massive dick . The latest in this ongoing saga claims to have had a 12" plus now it is unclear if that is bpel or nbpel but clearly that is 8 plus standard deviations . Actually my favourite stories are the ones where the girl claims something like to have had 8partners and that 4 of them were over 8".
The all time record for a story told to is held by your truly . This girl told me she only had a dozen partners and 4 over 10" including a 14".

Si in short I do have a use for the higher deviations and for maths purpose we can assume that the curve holds .

I forget where (maybe Thunders?) I saw someone post with similar data that you are looking for. I can't recall the numbers, but once it got above 10" you are pretty much talking 1 in 1,000,000.

Now I do believe there might be some truth behind some who claim to have a number of guys in the 8s and maybe 9s if they specifically go out looking for it (eg. hit up bars/clubs/online and ask if a guy is hung & looking for fun). Above those numbers though, things stop making sense.

Put another way, given Jonah Falcon is supposedly the largest on the planet and no one is trying to dethrone him at his reported 13.5", claims of 12", 13", 14", etc from the general population should go in 1 ear and out there other....same as if a 5' girl claims to have dated a guy who is 9' tall. lol

Found the one on Thunders -- Only goes up to 10 but proves the point I'm guessing:

The (statistical) Truth About Cock Size

                  Gentlemen,
There seems to be some confusion about the rarity of truly big (and truly small) penises, so I did a statistical analysis for everyone. I submitted some of this information in another thread yesterday, but I felt that it bore repeating and expanding. This summary is based on the LifeStyles condoms Cancun data set:
Mean length (n=300): 5.877 inches (14.928 cm) erect (assuming bone pressed)
Standard deviation: 0.825 inches (2.096 cm)
                  My analysis:
                  Lengths at each standard deviation:
5th sd below mean: 1.752 inches
4th sd below mean: 2.577 inches
3rd sd below mean: 3.402 inches
2nd sd below mean: 4.227 inches
1st sd below mean: 5.052 inches
                  Mean: 5.877 inches
1st sd above mean: 6.702 inches
2nd sd above mean: 7.527 inches
3rd sd above mean: 8.352 inches
4th sd above mean: 9.177 inches
5th sd above mean: 10.00 inches
                  Frequency in population:
                  1.752 inches: 1 in 3.5 million
                  2.577 inches: 1 in 31,574
                  3.402 inches: 1 in 741
                  4.227 inches: 1 in 44
                  5.052 inches: 1 in 6
                  5.877 inches: 1 in 2
                  6.702 inches: 1 in 6
                  7.527 inches: 1 in 44
                  8.352 inches: 1 in 741
                  9.177 inches: 1 in 31, 574
                  10.00 inches: 1 in 3.5 million
                  Rank in population, by percentile:
                  1.752 inches: 0.0000003rd percentile
                  2.577 inches: 0.000032nd percentile
                  3.402 inches: 0.14th percentile
                  4.227 inches: 2.3rd percentile
                  5.052 inches: 15.9th percentile
                  5.877 inches: 50th percentile
                  6.702 inches: 84.1st percentile
                  7.527 inches: 97.7th percentile
                  8.352 inches: 99.86th percentile
                  9.177 inches: 99.9968th percentile
                  10.00 inches: 99.99997th percentile
As you can see, the truly small (less than 2.5 inches) and the truly large (greater than 9 inches) are statistically very rare individuals. Given that the adult male population of the USA is approximately 105 million, there are only about 3250 guys in the entire country who are 9.2 inches long or longer, and only 30 in the entire country who possess 10 inches or more. And they are probably all in porn. See how a few dozen guys are screwing with the heads of ‘average’ length men? Making them feel small when they really, truly are not small.
71.5 million American men fall between 5.1 and 6.7 inches, so you are in good company if you are of average length. Further, only about 17,000 American men fall into the micropenis (2.7 inches or less) category.
Hopefully you guys find this information helpful in dispelling the ‘Monster Cock on Every Block’ myth. They really are pretty damn rare.
                  Cheers!
                  Pri
NOTE: I did not do a statistical analysis on the girth data, as they were not normally distributed (they did not have a bell shape). The mean and std dev were 4.972 inches and 0.508 inches, respectively, for what it is worth.

Last month there was a study that came out that showed the Average length to be 5.16 inches.

You can follow the chart for percentiles rather than relying on bell curve data.

The erect length in this meta study was not liked by many members . Some doubt if all the studies were bpel as they were supposed to be , large indian study may have skewed results. In any case the data is not clear over 8" length and in fact of the 600 or 700 guys used over several studies for the erect data only a couple were 8" plus.
