Honestly I've learned quite a bit by watching porn. Seeing or reading the different ways one can cause pleasure let me be anywhere near interesting when it came to the few relationships I've had. As long as you are smart enough to separate the craziness from some things you can find some truth hidden in there.

I think the same can be said for a lot on the internet. Most things even. The trouble is that kids grow up with enormous volumes of stuff on the net now across the spectrum of right and wrong, and barely anyone older is equipped to help them sort the wheat from the chaff. And the wheat is probably different for every young surfer, so while it was hard enough for me to work out who I was as a teenager, though I've changed and grown a lot since then, I didn't have that much presented to me at that time. My choices were much easier.

So, I can understand why older people and the government want it all banned. For the sake of children's "education" if nothing else. They can't relate to it or argue for or against it sensibly, they're out of their depth, and that's frightening.

Trouble is of course, that we know how prohibition works, the things prohibited remain but are driven underground where nobody has a chance of regulating or controlling it. This is the internet we now have forever, so it needs to be handled somehow, and honestly I don't know how we do that other than putting every single card on the table and facing up to it... but that's a big ask for anyone.

Well, I only started looking at porn in my mid 20's. Because, I didn't have the luxury of internet before that.

I did not start watching porn on the internet until in my 30's. It still caused all kinds of issues for me. My addiction was not related to age. Just like other chemicals the release of chemicals in a child's brain can be more dangerous. Still adults can have problems from it also.

I started looking at porn on the web at around 13 or 14 and I had no expectations of anything. Honestly I have more negative expectations of sex now then I did half my life ago because I know more about the possibilities and chances than I did just after puberty like that.

If anything, porn benefits the women as much as it benefits the men. There truly is nothing wrong with women watching it just how there's nothing wrong with men watching it.

Not that this is news, but nobody's saying there's anything wrong with watching porn in itself, but like anything, moderation is key. There are reasonable issues though. We know what it does to our control, hence the AP-90. It's too easy for a quick fix, and that screws up our stamina, and also in resolving our sexual frustration, like a pill, it dulls the natural desire away from us to seek sex for real.

Worse tho is thanks to the internet and video being everywhere and easy, kids grow up thinking that's what sex is like, what women are like, and looking down on women who don't live up to that... which is most of them who aren't slutty "party girls". Not that there's anything wrong with party girls, but it sure ain't all of 'em, and teenage boys growing up on internet porn may well not realise that. See I'm an old fart, and the only internet I ever saw as a teenager, and for some years after that, was dial-up where every jpeg took 30 seconds to load before you knew if it was worth waiting at all. Yeah, I saw occasional porno VHSs, but I learned about sex from actual sex. God only knows what I would have thought about sex and women as a kid if I'd grown up educated by the weeks and weeks of available hardcore porn on the net.

... which of course is my opinion in direct contrast to the OP haha ... but the article does say:
Dines also questioned the value of the Kohut's data, arguing that as the average age of the study's respondents was 45 it did not represent teenagers and young men, a key demographic of porn users.
