  • How to fix a patchy beard???

    Hey guys,

I would really like to be able to grow a proper beard but I have very patchy facial hair. It just does not grow in certain areas. I know having a patchy beard is quite common but is there any way possible to make my facial hair fill in?? Anyone had this problem but was able to find a way to change it? or have any tips?

    Thanks

How old are you? There is no way, I have been researching the growth of body hair for a few years.

People tell you to use a razor blade, or soap and then a razor blade....NO! That's not gonna work.

I'm using finasteride and minoxidil for my hair loss, with those products I gained more facial hair and it's alot thicker. ON THE OTHER HAND this could also be cause I'm just 23, and body hair grows (esp facial hair) till your 40th.

If you are young, just wait. If not...genetics and you won't get anymore.

A patchy beard can be called Alopecia Areata in some cases. https://www.google.nl/search?q=alope...IVchbbCh2Hzwnh

Yeah I knew it was more genetics. Figured things should have filled in by now, being in my mid 30s!

No, not like that. I can grow a goatee no problems, it is just an area either side on my cheeks where things dont grow

Yeah, my brother in law has the Joe Dirt facial hair problem too. He'll grow it out for months and months and it will barely fill in at all. He's 37 now. Just the way it is and he's ok with that. He'll do a goatee with longer sideburns most of the year. Doesn't look bad.

You'll just have to find a style you are comfortable and confident in and rock it out!

Most of the time that would indicate a genetic disposition for the patchiness. Like SLU says groom it to highlight your strengths. Good luck and remember it is a proper beard no matter what. Some guys grow hair almost to the eye sockets while some grow patchy. Just find your look and develop it from there.

I found when I came off Finasteride the side of my face hair started growing more and thicker. This would mean it;s probably linked to DHT. So find ways to increase your DHT if you want to increase your body hair.

This site offers very good education imo: The Definitive Guide on How to Groom a Beard as it Grows

The thing is that most of it is genes. And one don't want to spend money nor time, nor experiment with every kind of hormon. What you do is you live with it and make the best out of it. There are many celebrities that have a bad facial hair growth and make the best out of it. Check out the site and come back later with how you'll proceed!

I've myself been super in to beards these last couple of days, and myself I don't have a great growth (20 y.o). I have growth like "Van Dyke"-style, but the sides are just sporadic and really patchy.

                  Good luck!
