  • Point Break

So guys. 1991 was when the original Point Break film was released. Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) and Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) surfin', chasing the ultimate rush. Now there's a Point Break being released this month on the 25th. Who's excited to see it?
    I'm kind of excited because:
    -no more Keanu Reeves acting
-better visuals all around I'm guessing

Well that's pretty much it. The 1991 version is held pretty high in my favourite movie standings. I just wanted to hear from the forum about this one; and wanted to read something about movies other than Star Wars.

Honestly Keeanu's acting is always so enjoyable because it is never perfect. He brought that kind of dumb-ness to each roll that it was always fun watching him say something that was serious.

This newest one seems like Fast and the Furious without cars, but I guess I'll need to see it to see how it holds up.

I agree with Don, I love Keanu Reeve in movies because of his shit acting skills. It is always amusing. And he is a super super cool guy from what I have read about him and been through hell and back in his personal life.

I agree that Keanu Reeves seems like a cool guy. He makes a movie every once in a while, then we don't hear jack about him in between. He just wants to live his life privately which seems like a rarity with today's celebrities. As far as this new movie, I predict it will be as bad as the Red Dawn remake.

Plus, he made The Matrix more enjoyable with lines like "I know kung fu" and "Woah".

He was awesome in The Matrix. Lets not forget Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

One of my favorite movies, I saw it in the theater when I was 12. Not too thrilled that they are trying to recreate it but I'll keep an open mind considering how many remakes have been done so well.

So I finally saw the 2015 version just two nights ago, watched it last night again with my girlfriend, and am watching it again tonight with my family.
The pros of the 2015 film was great visuals and action. Great capture of what it feels like to do something thrilling with friends. Things I didn't like were just from a standpoint of what made the original movie so great. Like, no more ex-presidents (see them 1 time in their diamond heist). The scene where Utah lets Bodhi escape was much better played in the original film. There was no connection between Bodhi and Utah, or anybody for that matter. The movie was so focused on the action that there was no deeper connections. Pappas. The film didn't do a good job of hiding things; the second Utah wakes up from Bodhi rescuing him I knew Utah was made, but then they say it an hour later in the movie like it was some big secret to somebody, not us the audience so who? The foreshadow on the opening scene with the two boys on dirt bikes kind of took the fun out of it, if you didn't pick it up when you watched it listen to the lyrics as they ride. I actually missed Keanu. Utah after everything is done should have went and tried to finish all the trials himself, and was what I was expecting him to do, his appetite for adrenaline was portrayed as being too high through the film to NOT do this.
I know I'm being very critical with a movie that I DID ENJOY. But this is just some of the stuff that was done poorly in my opinion. The rest of the film was incredibly thrilling and a joy to watch. Now I'm going to go watch it again
