I really have to quit smoking, all it is is bad, no positives to it, so I thought I'd start a thread for anyone who wants to do the same, kind of like that AP90 thread. So ye, I used to smoke John Player blue, an irish brand, so was going to call it the JP90! but ( and I could be wrong ) I'm sure I've seen that somewhere. So, I've called it the GU90, gu being give up, just to avoid any hassle with patents and copyrights.

Some dickhead accused me of plagiarism once... his words not mine.

I was out Friday after I handed up my final assessment for a few drinks with everyone from college, ended up buying a box of a smokes. Threw them in the bin this morning but I couldn't hold it together.

See a lot of you on the aa90, maybe if i give up drink for a while it will help.

Any of my friends that quit said when they drank they found it impossible not to smoke. I would smoke socially the odd time when drinking, because it is a damn good combo!

Only problem with vaping is it's more expensive, I have 4 boxes of the gum I got for free but it was just being out for a drink that fudged me up.

I quit after getting pneumonia a couple of years ago. I did not eat, drink or anything else for over a week. Almost checked out of this life before we realized I did not have the flu and it was something else. But during that week I suffered the trifecta of withdrawal. Cessation from smoking, caffeine, and alcohol. Had massive headaches for the week I was bed ridden. Chose to not start up as I emerged from the near death experience and never looked back. I had smoked for over 35 years and called it quits just like that. That experience also radically changed my life as I suddenly and dramatically became human. No longer was I invincible and able to conquer the world on my own. Someone else was in control, and I needed to clean up my act. 3 years smoke free - what say you? how about day one starts now. It is one week of hell, and several months of wanting and then you don't think about it anymore other that how bad is smells on others. I'm here for you, lets do this.

Drinking and smoking are linked for me...it's as causal as flicking a switch and a light turning on. If I drink...I end up smoking. These things are largely the legacy of my previous career that was dangerous and had a 'work hard, play hard' attitude central to it. PTSD certainly did not help with the booze and subsequently the smokes.

I pick them up whenever I drink and then ditch them...then I pick them up again. I was heavily into physical training for most of my life so people would be surprised when they saw me with a bottle of whisky in my hand and a smoke hanging out of my mouth. I've largely combated the full brunt of the smoking damage by always being physically active but of course, it doesn't protect you from the other nasties that come from it.

My grandfather smoked and drank his whole life. Died aged 97. His sister smoked and drank her whole life. Died at aged 102. There is obviously something genetic here as both were pretty much sedentary their whole lives by way of work. However, relying on genetics is a dangerous path and it doesn't make up for the quality of life that you forgo along the way from trashing yourself with substances.

Hoping that my lack of booze will see me not pick up a cigarette also. They also both tend to be expensive so money in the pocket, better sleep, better training and better sex (always found I had waaaaay better sex without booze and smokes) are good motivators. The fact that I almost never get sex does not deter me lol. I did get some last night and it was awesome and...oh sorry, don't want to derail the thread

I remember when I was in my early 20's and I thought I was going to live forever and didn't care about when I reached my 50's.

I'm 55 now and guess what...I'm still in my early 20's in my head!

Give that shit up...it will catch you up eventually!

Vaping is more expensive than smoking? I spend 25$ a month on juice and vape like 13ml's a day

I also achieved two years of being cigarette free this month

What is vape? Is it like those e-cigs where you just inhale scented water vapour?

In Ireland it's 30 quid for the e-cig, 5 euro for tips and 7 for the refils which are supposed to be equivalent of 100 cigarettes, but everyone I know who vapes says it's much less.

Yes. E-cigs and/or personal vaporizers. I use a box mod with an RDA. It's a beast

I'm in the US and I order the four ingredients online and mix them shats together myself. It's a helluva lot cheaper if/when you mix your own juices. That's the shhhhhecret!
