Oh well I guess there are some that can't see past their nose. It is sad. The 50's, 60's; oh some just like to think of separate water fountains and that's all they see. Wonder now how things don't get better? Cling with all your might to the evils of the past and never ever look at the good because they see no good; only evil. What a sad way to look at life.

Back at that time there was these things called families. They came in all colors but you had them. They sat down to eat with each other, they built a core, a bond. Black, white, green; it made no difference. Dinner time was dinner time and you WERE home for dinner time. There was respect for not just your parents but your siblings as well. No there wasn't 70% of black children being born out of wedlock like today. Go look up the stats; unwed mothers wee basically at the same percentage. Not now.

That family unit taught respect; respect for elders, respect for authority. You went to school and learned. You listened to the teacher and got educated. You didn't have kids talking on their cell phones disrupting class did you? You were scared poopless if the teacher would write a note home to your folks that you were bad or didn't do your homework. Guys like Dr. Ben Carson and Colin Powell got educated during those years and well I think they made something of themselves.

Kids didn't have to fear police; if fact most kids would have preferred going to the station because if the cop brought them home to their parents, well let's just say it was far worse.

Families went to church together, prayed together, stayed together and watched out for each other. Neighbors and neighborhoods helped each other, unlike today where most folks don't know their neighbors or could care less about them.

Oh yes you're right; there was nothing good about that time.

You're the one who can't see past their nose... Want to know why there's a great deal of single mothers? War on Drugs disproportionately affecting black men when white and black men used drugs at the same rate.

these are simple things to understand if you're not stuck on believing that your opinion about something is the only thing that is accurate. That your experiences are the only experiences that count.

Seems to me that many people seem to believe telling personal anecdotes negates the very real world out there. That your personal story overrides evidence of a system.

That your personal OPINION of how people felt about police back then was how they actually felt... No, black and brown people WERE fearful of the police then. Listen to anything Malcolm X or Martin Luther King (near his death) said. Black and Brown people WERE fearful of police..>

Misogyny and sexism blocked women from being truly productive and providing for their families (or at the very least made it extremely difficult)

A divorcee was considered a social pariah and to be avoided at all costs. Professional women were constantly running into "Glass Ceilings"

No, many marriages didn't stay together because of better morals... the messed up society forced a lot of people to stay in really abusive and dangerous marriages.

Becoming a decent person starts with ME and then extends to the friends I choose to hang around with. I do not associate with anyone who harbors these 50+ year old standards. If you would look at your fellow man with an open eye instead of one filled with distrust and skepticism we could move this whole mess forward. I have made that transition, when will you?

As I have stated before, there is enough evidence to support that liberals are mentally ill people. The inconsistency, irony, hypocrisy, can't be deliberate coming from these beings. It has to be some kid of metal failure that perhaps they're not aware of.

I agree with much of what you said.... however when government started rewarding women for producing children out of wedlock is really when the disintegration of the family kicked into high gear!

Oh, I guess you missed the post where I pointed out how the Republican and Democratic parties switched positions on a race related issues. This kind of polarity swap has happened a few times over the course of american political history.

One of the hardest things for a human to do is to hold a though in their head that goes against some of their other beliefs. It's called cognitive dissonance. It's why it is so much easier for someone to deny the humanity of another right before they do something horrible to them. People like to think of themselves as just and righteous and that the other just/righteous people are treated well. So it's easier on their ego to pretend that the other guy is "bad" than to face the reality that they are about to do something that violates their ethics.

A greater number of blacks arrested for drugs than whites? Were they selling and using?If so they broke the law didn't they? Then jail it is for them.
Do you know what a high crime area is? I am sure you do.They attract more police and sadly in some of our major inner cities many of those areas are black. More cops; more arrests. Yes it is that simple. Now if the good people in these areas took to the streets and cleaned up their own neighborhoods then maybe the cops would go somewhere else and maybe arrest more other colors of kids but they don't. They stay in their homes and call the police. I guess it would be better for the police not to come so the numbers would be equal. Looking at it in terms of too many blacks get arrested is simply wrong,biased and a bit racist as well.They should all be looked at as people. Guess who's coming to dinner?

Seems like the current media and Obama administration have a war on police departments all across the country. All the erroneous reporting on a hand full of incidents has our current president implying that it's all race related. Which has resulted in many police departments afraid of doing their jobs for fear of being prosecuted. So what do we have now in so many of our inner cities? Rampant crime, drug dealing and black on black homicides that are off the charts! Obama & the libtard media created this! So my advice to the police departments in these areas is .... "let it be". Maybe we can set up more street corner cameras and sell it on Pay Per View?.... call it "Rumble in the Jungle". Frankly if I were a police officer who lived near any of these areas, I'd do the same.... stay the hell out, and let them slaughter themselves! As Forrest Gump's momma said .... "stupid is as stupid does".

My point was that for many the mind set has not changed. Sidney Portier in that movie, 50 years ago as he argued with his father said; You look at yourself as black man. I look at myself as a man". Many have done just that but many others have not.
