  • ED helped end my relationship :-(

    Hi folks.

    43 year old male here.

I have been suffering from ED for over a year now - not as hard, erection not lasting as long.

I didn't address it and have been in a rut for a long time for other reasons - just got really down on life, complained about everything, was very sensitive and irritable.

My girlfriend of 7 years brought it up around a year ago, tried to breakup, but I talked her out of it and she stayed. She later said it was just a moment of insanity and to forget it. I thought things were good, but felt her getting distant over the last month and then she left. She said it was because of the lack of intimacy and that I had no plan for the future (I've been complaining about my job too and threatening to leave it). I love her. I am devastated. I want her back.

While she has some valid points, I think we could work things out. But it's a wake-up call - a HUGE one -and I need to address my issues.

I should have done it a long time ago but I didn't. I fell into a rut and stayed there and yes she should have said something in the year between the breakup conversations, I should not have sat on my ass and thought everything was OK when it was clear that I was not taking care of her in bed.

I tried one of the ED drugs and it worked but my insurance doesn't cover it so I didn't use them after the free ones.

I also became addicted to porn and masturbation - I was self-conscious abut the ED, reluctant to try with her, masturbation feels good and is easier, and I fell into that trap. Very bad.

Yes, I am a total idiot. I knew there was a problem but didn't address it. Ran and hid instead. Good job, me!

So, here I am. I am going to the urologist again tomorrow, got The Hardness Factor and a bunch of supplements in the mail, started losing weight, doing Kegels, and visiting this board.

That's me - always a day late and a dollar short, as pa used to say (God rest him).

    Thanks.

    M

Seeing as how you are only 43 your life is certainly not over. Your age isn't what it used to be in days gone by. If you smoke, quit, if you drink too much, stop. You mention loosing weight, good idea.

You need a goal, get one. Mine is to be the Terror of the Sunnyvale Nursing Home. If you find this advice good, Air Freight me a Corned Beef on Rye from the Carnegie Deli.
    Start 2009/06/24 bpel 5.5 eg 4.75

I would venture a guess with all that you said that ed was not the main factor in the breakup.Woman at that age want some type of security; will you have a job, will we have a place to live, am I going to end up supporting this guy, all the while you're being nasty and irritable and not doing anything to make a good relationship. Concentrate on making yourself what you know you should be and I bet the ed will take care of itself!

Thanks CUSP and everybody. I just want to be the best man I can be - on all levels. This has been a real wake-up call.

Sucks that I only seem to learn after I get my a$$ kicked.
